Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
https://soundcloud.com/angrywhiteboy-1/rawr Alright, I tried another Growl-ey bass (except this ones actually good.) It's mostly FM8 using hookjunior's method (8th Formant* -> Sine -> Sine) + PhotonOfficial's EQing advice. I'm busy right now so if anyone wants to know how I did this, just reply and...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Hook didn't mention anything about frequency splitting/resampling. Is he your lord or something? Apparently  I tell ya though, even though some producers sound like what you want to sound like doesn't mean everything they say is the law... Quite true but I was directly referring to the growl ...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Okay so after some experimentation with formant EQing, I managed to come up with this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/uy0rmbyd8mm1zmk/Vowel.aif Still, it sounds a bit too throaty. Anyone have any ideas how I can heavy it up a little in the same vein as this? HOW I USED TO MAKE GROWLS. https://soundcloud....

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I automated the eq but I'm unsure as to the parameters of the automation. Right now the peak is sweeping the entire spectrum which is obviously not the right way to go about it. Do I just sweep between the notches? I'll post my results at some point.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Could I get a page reference please mate? I sort of understand the principle behind it but when I try to apply it, I dont get anything that sounds remotely growl-y. I'm using a source sound from fm8 with a sine as the carrier modulated by another sine which is in turn modulated by a 10th formant wa...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Ah that'd be awesome man thanks. I'm still in the process of learning FM8 at the moment so I'm still working with very basic patches (Sines modulating sines ^2) but any advice would be appreciated.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Better but still not as profound as I'm trying to achieve. I'm going for something along the lines of this:
Its not sounding like SkisM that I'm bothered about. Its the technique involved.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Well I'm trying to get a 'Yay' sound. I have my eq at the end of my effects chain with a notch at 270 for the 'e' sound with full gain mapped to a knob on my controller and a notch at 660 for the 'a' sound with full gain. I've also scooped out everything in between. Then I'm playing a note and sweep...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
I'm using formant charts. I can pull out the formant frequencies with notches but I cant get a clean transition between the two if that makes sense.

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
Sup people. I've been reading a few of the posts in this thread and I'm starting to understand the theory behind this technique but I can't, for the life of me, get anywhere near a distinctive vowel sound. Would anyone care to give a comprehensive step-by-step guide on the technique? Cheers (I'm usi...

Re: This guy from this label
Seems legit. Just tugging your meat whistle. I suggest you ask to see the contract first before you hand any of your music over to them. Even if they are legitimate, which I'm seriously doubting (I've been where you are now), you may not find the terms of the contract to your liking. Once they have ...

Re: Analogue enigma
How knowledgeable are you? Like I had to explain to someone the other day the difference between a synth and a sampler... I hear that Diva sounds very analogish. If you're cheap try out tyrell n6 by the same dev. It is free and ABSOLUTELY amazing. Also try out Rez, another freeware synth. It is a l...

Analogue enigma
Not sure if I'm on the right board with this one but I'm dabbling in some old school analogue vibes and came across this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EF9oOSJGhM Starts at around 2:04. Wondering if anyone had any idea on how I would achieve this sound? There's a patch in massive called Analogica ...

Not sure whether this has already been posted but I felt the need to post it anyway.
And for anyone on the forum who's sad that they didn't see one skrillex track posted in here...

My first ever track. The tune itself isn't so bad. The caption underneath makes me sound like I just won an oscar. CRINGE!
