Re: [production bible 2] Headphones

i can't decide between AKG K601 or 240 or 240mk2 (it seems i can find both online still)... i'll be using primarily with my Machinedrum, MPC, laptop... the 601s look awesome and seem like they'd be comfortable for extended tweak time on my Machinedrum.

most CPU efficient seq for a netbook?

I just got a Samsung NC-10 to replace a stack of drum machines that have been collecting dust. The drum machines are pretty sweet for what they do, but in a way they're a bit like reinventing the wheel. Now that netbooks are around with decent battery life and specs enough to do some audio work I fi...

Machinedrum UW, tips?

I recently bought a Machinedrum... gearwhorish I know. I am a little mystified by the sampling features though. Anybody on here have any experience with these?

Asus UMPC?

Has anyone used FL on one of these Asus EEEs? I've heard the SSD versions are pretty decent but a little underpowered. I am looking for a good live PA alternative.

Harumph...

Something like tips... layering closed hats, tambourines with kick drums or... avoiding the snares on 9 & 13... these would be helpful too.

UMPCs

Has anyone messed about with production on a UMPC yet? I was wondering about what it might be like to use one for live PA. Especially something with a solid state hard disk. I figure with a solid USB controller it would be damn close to hardware in reliabliity.

quasimidi 309

It seems everyone on here is devoutly PC based but what do you think is a fair price for a Quasimidi 309 these days?

I think they seem pretty awesome. They've sold out in Tokyo though so it will probably be awhile before you can find one. I'd definitely get one though.

brag up your soft sequencer

i was using Audiomulch for awhile but the developer seems adamant about not implementing a sequencer for VSTi... this sucks a bit as you might imagine. it's a good tool but in some ways, the lack of a VSTi sequencer, it is a bit like reinventing the wheel. i've used Fruity in the past and found it O...

Anyone using the mc505 or AudioMulch?

I've just started listening to dubstep and find it to be everything I liked about DnB... huge crushing wobbly bass. It seems the emphasis is more on the sub sub stuff though whereas DnB's bass is more midrange bass (?) Anyway I've got a mixed kit. A bunch of pedals, a King Kapitol Punishment Glamour...
