Re: SYSTEM SOUNDS, SYSTEM PEOPLE

LAS, Vivek, dbridge. All very different, all good sets. Crowd went mental at the end when the jungle dropped.

The soundsystem's weightier than it was a year ago but was sounding a bit muddy. They were fiddling around with it most of the night.

Re: SYSTEM 2ND BIRTHDAY

Riddles got my tickets, for once don't need to rush around to get in the queue :Q: The plan is to go see Jimmy's band in the Unicorn beforehand and then walk up to the Dome. Anyone else up for it? should be a laugh, I hope to see a dirty ninja mosh pit :P Yeah I'm up for that, going to be in town e...

Re: What are you reading?

Reading Cory Doctorow's Makers. This one's about how the maker movement changes the world, goes through a dot.com-style bust within the first third of the book, has the protagonists starting up a maker-style amusement park in the next third (which I'm in now). Read the blurb and download the book he...

Re: What are you reading?

Just read Arthur C Clarke's "The City and The Stars". It's really good! It reads far better than the later books that he's most famous for, is pretty prescient (as you'd expect from him) for something published in 1956, and is inventive with its ideas of far future societies and aliens. ht...

Ffs I'd happily forgotten the tune even existed and now I've got the bloody chorus looping in my head!

He was right in front if the decks pretty much the whole night lol. We kept pointing at his back and (quietly) telling people "That's M8son...."

Re: In 4 the Kill in Retrospect

Also, there were loads of awesome dubstep tunes with awesome female vocals before In 4 The Kill came along. Geiom's Reminiscin with Marita, Warrior Queen on Poison Dart (ok not sure whether she'd count as being divaesque), D1's Mind + Soul come immediately to mind.

Have always hated the track. Actually had to change radio stations when I heard it for the first time.

Was mostly ninjas and friends. I think Wolf's set went down really well with the randoms. Bar staff were friendly, bouncer was chilled.

Re: Converge(aka SNH party) Friday July 25th-London SW47UX

Good fun! Badger b2b Riddles probably counts as the most random set I've ever heard played out. Starting off with that Destiny's Child remix, immediate wheel :cornlol: It was stupidly good though! Missed exfox's set, caught a quarter of Pete's stomping set. Really enjoyed Parris' set. Got a bit blur...

Re: Music how it sounds and how it is remembered

I see (hear?) similar things. I think production tools are slightly different now (we have more options) so you'd go about constructing songs/tunes in different ways so they can sound and feel different but effectively capture a similar vibe. I think it's down to the way we recognise patterns of the...

The ultimate whitey? :dunce:

Good take on the old white hole idea from the 80s - black holes being tubes that eventually spewed out somewhere as white holes.

Re: Test your social intelligence

27. I don't think I tried particularly hard. There was another one that was posted a while back ( https://www.dubstepforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=257664 ), but the link to the test itself seems dead. Says at the bottom of the results page that this one's based on the older one. Recognised...
