Re: Fab-filter Saturn

Curious if any seasoned ohmicide users have tried this. This probably won't be too helpful, but after a short demo, here's my impressions: 1. In terms of interface, there is no comparison. Ohmicide's interface in my opinion is one of the worst out there, and Fabfilter's is one of the best. That alo...

Re: Thoughts on WOW Filter?

If you're not going to use the LFOs, envelopes, etc. then take a look at Fabfilter Simplon or Micro (Micro has an envelope follower as well). They're a lot cheaper, as well (you could actually get both for the same price as WOW). If you don't mind spending $50 more, Fabfilter Volcano 2 is the best f...

Re: Switching back and forth between these DAWs

I would say the quality of instruments / effects in Ableton and FL vary pretty wildly...I would say overall that Ableton has better instruments and FL has better effects, but that's a huge generalization on my part. Anyway, the majority of good music was made on equipment 10,000x more shit than FL. ...

Re: Arturia Minibrute

I do wish they had a larger variety of sound examples for us to hear. I was watching one of the videos and the guy selling it was turning out this horrible resonant distortion noise and saying something like "and you can just make this crazy noise...which is just....AWESOME" and I wanted t...

Re: Arturia Minibrute

A poly version would be sweet, but surely that would cost twice as much? I might be showing my n00bness here, but wouldn't a polyphonic analog synth have to use an extra set of circuitry for each voice? Surely that would cost twice as much (e.g. the mopho / tetra)? Yeah I was thinking I could do cho...

Re: Arturia Minibrute

I agree with the workflow part; I'm the same way. The only thing that's keeping me from preordering one is the fact that it's only one oscillator. That's not really a liability, it's just that a lot of the stuff I've been making lately seems like it uses more that one (or polyphony) e.g. deep techno...

Re: Arturia Minibrute

100% analogue (minus arpeggio etc), filter in, interesting steiner filter rather than yet another moog/ms20 clone, one knob per parameter. Designed by a very well respected synth DIY guy, Yves/Yusynth. WIN. This should sell by the bucket load. Im going to wait for a bit for prices to hopefully drop...

Re: Arturia Minibrute

yeah a lot of people seem to be complaining about not being able to save patches, but it doesn't seem that big of a deal to me...every control is laid out for you, and there's not so many parameters overall, so I feel like as long as you understand basic subtractive synthesis, recreating a patch wou...

Anybody else interested in this thing? I'm seriously considering preordering one. Always wanted a hardware synth, more for workflow and experimentation than anything, but never saw a point over software plugins if I would be going through loads of menus to tweak it or using software to control it an...

http://soundcloud.com/cloak-and-dagger/cloak-and-dagger-make-our-own http://soundcloud.com/cloak-and-dagger/cloak-and-dagger-make-our-own Had this sitting around on my computer and thought I would put it up for free download, as I don't have any plans for it. Re: NAMM 2012

Minibrute looks amazing...I've wanted a real, hands-on synth for a long time but never really had the money for it. $500 is a great deal but a bit too much for my budget, but if it were around $350 I think I would definitely pick one up. Sounds great, easy to program but with a lot of sound design ...

Re: Shortcircuit sampler problems

why is it that when i put note specific samples into short circuit (ie drums) they get transposed up an octave? like, on the piano roll, the sounds the same but if i set it to c1 itll be on c2. its a mystery That has to do with how your DAW reads the MIDI signals...if it does it with other 3rd part...

rehashing an old thread sorry, but sc2 was buggy not sc1.

Yeah I was surprised to read that!; SC2 was so buggy that it was unusable for me, whereas SC1 has been rock solid

Re: Bitwig Studio New DAW

Definitely interested in this...I love the idea of Ableton Live, but some things just drive me mad (the arranger window more than anything). Bitwig includes some of the people that wrote Ableton Live (which is why it looks so similar) as well as the guy who made Shortcircuit and Surge. With that tal...
