Truant is so good! Might just be a very late entry for track of the year, much better than the entire Kindred EP imo

I'm not too keen on Truant, gonna have to give it some time to grow on me. Rough Sleeper is definitely huge though !!

I think the new 10+ minutes tracks 'formula' is interesting and it works really well with his style, especially in Rough Sleeper. I didn't like it on the Kindred release because it felt like he'd just thrown in a bunch of random radio cuts with vinyl sparkle in between. I find it more cohesive in this release (just my 2p)

yeah, its odd so many people are criticizing this release and saying it's not cohesive and the tracks are too scattered, when really this one is so much more connected and smooth than kindred

Listened once, really didn't like.
Regarding the previous release when that percussion kicks in on Kindred it was serious, only eyes down vibe his tunes have had since selftitled.
Ironicaly the female vocals ruin it though, too much of it imo.
Should of had less going on for that tune in particular.
But these new tunes my days how boring

I have to come clean and say I judged too fast on this release. It's not his best ever but parts of these tracks are like seeds being planted in your brain slowly growing until you find yourself humming the ravey part of Truant or the second half of Rough Sleeper. And as I said from the beginning, the bass is monstrous.

Still not agreeing with the cowbell and some of the more silent/ambient moments, which were way superior on Kindred and even the Massive Attack collab. But the beats are so solid, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I misjudged this slow grower at the start.

I like this release, both of the tracks on there. But Burial has made better songs in my opinion, even though I think this 10+ minute tracks thing works really great.

Got Rough Sleeper on my channel by the way.

The vocals that come in at about 4:20 on Rough Sleeper is sampled from this:

Thought you guys would be interested. If anyone knows any other sample sources from this release feel free to share!
I'm very curious about the pad/melody that comes in at 10:33 on Rough Sleeper, it sounds like it could be a looped part of a video game soundtrack.

don't really like this too much. tracks feel like a load of sketches thrown together. Burial sounds like he's sticking to some of formula too much. it's also a bit cheesy. Sounds like he's trying for this "it's so emotional and beautiful" edge but it sounds a little too much like he's trying. His tracks used to have more of a dark atmosphere with a more subtle melancholy theme to them. This lacks that edge. I still don't think it's terrible and I prefer it to the last ep it's just it doesn't really measure up to his earlier stuff.
