Are there any Dubstep artists with elements of Chiptune?

Post by BYTEME » Wed Oct 24, 2012 9:46 am

Give me some good Dubstep artists that use a lot of influences and elements of Chiptune.
I know Eptic is one of them, it's all over every single one of his tracks intro's and break downs especially.
Then there's Shirobon who's recently been doing Dubstep..

Anyone you know?

But I like Zomboy.... He does have SOME Chiptune in his newer tunes on his Dead Symphonic EP...

I'll go listen to Zomby. I've never heard of Zomby til now.

Ikonika definitely has strong chiptune elements:

And yeah, Zomby and Quarta330. The Hyperdub label in general is pretty NES-happy.

Gosh, i love Q330 so much... Probably one of my top three tunes ever with the other tune with LV in the top 10

Zomby - Zomby EP on Hyperdub and One Foot Ahead of The Other, all chippy goodness (Godzilla, Aquafresh, Helter Skelter and Digital Fauna (standard!) are favourites)

Scratcha DVA on Hyperdub (Polyphonic Dreams, Madness and others)

I think some old Rusko has some chippy stuff too

Not a fan, but Unicorn Kid has a couple of derbstep tunes that might be up your street too.

But yeah Hyperdub is great for this stuff.

Also stuff commonly called "Skweee" and/or "Wonky" is full of low bit sounds and is kind of dubsteppish (or at least "bass music").
Like this, this, this, this, this, this and this and loads more. Mmmhmm.

Doctor P uses it a lot along with everyone else on circus records. Datsik does in a few tracks as well.

I NEVER liked Unicorn Kid. Waaaaaay to shitty, and just annoying as hell. That's like someone forcing an Original Mario for NES, INTO A SONY DVD PLAYER. That's what Unicorn Kid is like. -.-"

I like Henry Homesweet, Shirobon, Circles, Fighter-X, Nullsleep, RANDOM, Deadp1xel, Pixelh8, 1-800-Zombie, Saskrotch, Starpaus, Linde, Knife City, Crystal Castles, MGMT (Sometimes Chiptune), and a few others.
