They're awful everywhere. Little Mini-Malas who are all down with dub and soundsystem culture and vinyl who treat his posts like holy scripture, rag on brostep for being unoriginal and costing minimal effort to produce, while sharing 'Alicia' every chance they get.
It's so cringey, it actually pains me. Funniest when they'll give it all the "Peace, love and dubplates" spiel, then tell you that you're a fucking prick who deserves to get knocked out if you don't agree with them.
IMO, if facebook and twitter wasn't there, doubt they'd be moaning as much about DSF, as just discussing tunes* would be the norm, not just endless 140 character nonsense/blowing down the producer's dick on every status.
*Pete summed it up perfectly, if I like something, I like it, if not, I'll discuss with other people, and try to find something I do like. The VAST majority on this forum are ultimately here to find music they will like, or to discuss that which they already do with like-minded people. Not many come here to exclusively just hate on tunes.
I get what you're saying about the forum's importance, but I think this place has been pretty good. Look at all the nights that people on this place have started, all the DJs playing out at local nights or further afield, labels (whether physical or digital) starting up or sending out promo, collabs going on, people finding new releases. I wouldn't have started up my blog/label if it wasn't for this place, and I know I've exposed a tonne of people to new music from that. It may not be stadium filling stuff nor did it spawn the sound, but I'd say this forum has been one of the most important places for dubstep.
