when you select the effect device, hold shit as you select it, that way it wont be wired up to anything.

then press tab to flip the rack around, you can then manualy send the effect straight to the snare and mixer channel

There are loads of ways of setting up sends in Reason, but the easiest for Redrum is probably this --->

Image

I like to have all my devices in individual Combinators, thus having the ability to mix sends per device using a line mixer.

In this example, I've routed the send to a mixer channel so I have the option to pan it as well as control it's volume... ;)

On the front of the Redrum, you will need to turn up the 'S1' control on the channel you wish to 'send'.

Here is how you could build an advanced drum machine combinator...

Create a Combinator

Within the Combi, create devices in the following order:
  • an Mclass Compressor
    Mclass EQ
    ECF 42 Filter
    Line Mixer 6:2
    Redrum Drum Computer
We need to wire them all up correctly, so disconnect any connections that reason may have already made. You want your Combi to look like this --->

Image

Now wire up the outputs of each device as follows --->

(Line mixer ---> ECF 42 filter ---> Mclass EQ ---> Mclass Compressor ---> Combi 'From Devices')

Image

This is where things get more complicated. We're going to create an effects bus for our kick drums.

Create a new:
  • Line mixer
    RV7000 Reverb
    Mclass EQ
    Mclass Compressor
Disconnect everything so we can connect them as we wish.

Image
  • Wire the output of Line Mixer 2 into the input on the Mclass EQ.
Wire the output of the Mclass EQ into the input of the Mclass Compressor.
Wire the output of the Mclass Compressor into 'Input 1' on the original Line Mixer (Line Mixer 1)
Wire the 'Send' output on Line Mixer 2 into the RV7000 Reverb.
Wire the Output of the RV7000 Reverb into 'Input 6' on Line Mixer 2.
We have now got to connect the Redrum drum computer into Line Mixer 2.

Connect the output of channels 1-3 into the inputs of channels 1-3 on Line Mixer 2.

Things should look like this --->

Image

We now have channels 1-3 on the Redrum going to their own effects bus where they can hqave reverb (or any other effect) applied as a send, and where they can be collectively EQ'd and compressed. We could also stick some other effects as an insert before the MClass EQ/Compressor to beef things up a bit.

Here is a complete picture of the Combi when all the Redrum channels are connected to busses.

Image
Image

Finally, tie the filter cutoff on the ECF 42 Filter to the Combi front panel controls.

Image

As you can imagine, there are plenty of possibilities with the flexible routing and busses available! (Even if the wiring looks messy behind lol)

Have fun! :)

i make things bit easyer and effective as well.
i put redrum into combinator and then ill choose for every snare, hi hat, BD ETC. Mclass EQ, Scream 4, (Sometimes) RV 7000, (Sometimes) DDL -1 delay for hi hats only, Compressor for snares.
Much easyer to route and master every sound.
And i usually use 2 redrums diffrent sound bank and Dr. Rex for some rex loops (whitch i reorganize) it
makes drums more powerful

Anyone remember which button you press to make the wires visually disappear? Did it by mistake one night and never figured out what it was!

Open a new session

create a mixer with a reverb, a delay and a distortion running out of it as auxiliaries.

create a redrum and take the individual outputs of each channel into the mixer as individual channels, adding eq's along the line as you need them.

then save this whole setup as a combinator patch called "drum starter" or something like that that youll remember every time you use it.

take the stereo out of the mixer into the input of the combinator, and the output of the combinator to the hardware interface/second mixer.

Cheers for those ways of drum processing. I use a quick little method that is quite simple, but I've made some good punchy beats this way.

Load up a combinator.

-Line 6 mixer

-A Redrum computer

-A audio splitter and an seperate EQ and compresser for the kick, snare, hats, rides and crashes (or what ever drum hits you would like to process.)

When you create the EQs and compressors hold shift so nothing connects at the back and route accordingly. And up to each seperate channel in the mixer.

So... shoulda be like this.

Combi
line 6 mixer
drum comp
splitter
EQ
compressor
(and any effects you wish to used on each drum just under the compresser.)

hope this could be a bit of help! my first time postin a technique, sorry if its not explained clearly enough

this! great way to layer sounds without taking up to many channels in the 6 ch. mixer.
