Who's deleting info @ Wikipedia?
Right, so twice now, I've added Riddim.ca, Gutterbreakz and other dubstep resources to the Wikipedia entry on Dubstep at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dubstep
And twice now, these links have been deleted. Wikipedia is an open publishing system, so anyone is allowed to edit the information. The only links left now are:
-Dubstep* Forum
-Rinse FM
-Bleep/Road
-BBC Collective dubstep video feature
-Mary Anne Hobbs
I've posted these links in the interest of community-building and spreading information about the scene. I don't see how excluding information is in any way productive.
So out with it, who's sabotaging the links and why? The page history includes this entry:
14:19, 15 May 2006 GraemeL (?External links - Linkspam cleanup)
GraemeL, if you're here, learn the difference between pertinent information and spam.

tell these people:

"Tired of seeing articles carelessly deleted, censored, and then cherry picked as to what is "encyclopedic enough", several Wikipedia members formed "Wikipedians against censorship". Surprise, surprise!"

What a nonce man he needs to sort himself out he quotes a code of conduct which contradicts his decisions! Have you tried getting in contact with him to explain? As narrow minded as he must be, and as little as he must understand the role of blogs in this thing, he would hopefully be able to see that your site at the least is on a different tip to the average. Quote this to him (from his self-professed code of conduct):
"Deleting things for the sake of deleting is BAD. If it's true, verifiable, NPOV, etc. it's the sort of information Wikipedia is able to accept. Wikipedia is an Encyclopedia. It is SUPPOSED to have INFORMATION."
"Every time you arbitrarily delete an article, you lose a potential editor, who says to themselves, "What a stupid bunch of morons! They deleted the article on X!"

reminds me of that Popbitch article about someone complaining that the titles at the bottom of a news article on the famine in Niger were racist because "someone might misread them"...
I mean wtf?

well, i guess "bigger" has to be ditched from the english language too. and "like" as well. while we're at it, might as well get rid of "mop" and "setback" as well...but of course, if we get rid of "bag" and "say", then immature straight boys won't know how to insult each other anymore, right?peripheral wrote:goodpollywog wrote:must be censorship time of the month.Apparently after 10 or so complaints I have to change my name or face consequences because pollywog rhymes with gollywog![]()

yeah i posted last night and they were gone by morning. glad you're on there deapoh.
the message i thought i sent to GraemeL never actually went through their system for some reason.
but there's a "discussion page" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Dubstep where we can post comments. supposedly, issues about the management the section can be raised here.

I posted a complaint at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Dubstep. It should be deleted by tomorrow

right well i've left him a little message as a link. perhaps he'll come and join the debate rather than exercising executive power...
