dubstep forum was always open to all kinds of music..
there is no need to separate music in different rooms.. its all music..
but it still is dubstep forum!
p.s. i see your arguments - i will leave Secret Ninja Hideout

thing is, as much as i agree with you, you will never be able to control what people post, no matter how much you segregate/centralise this forum. its a free forum full stop. there are over 7000 registered people on here now, trying to limit the number of forums so they post relevant entries isn't realistic. you will always get 'such and such a track is big' regardless of whetehr there is one forum or 20.RickyRicardo wrote:
The unintended consequence, I think, was that because the board became so segmented, each new sub-forum essentially narrowed what could be said in the main forum. And I'll be honest, the topics began to get really stale. Everything seemed to either be a hype thread, a myspace thread, or a "such and such track is big" thread...followed by 40 replys of "Yeah!". There seemed to be more advertising than discussing going on.
That i am sure is the same for a lot of people, but also just part and parcel of having a large forum - its not the case of there being 400-500 people anymore - this is a big forum with lots of people with lots to say! collapsing it will make it harder to keep up with what people have to say.RickyRicardo wrote:Honestly there were plenty of days when I'd log on and just check out what was happening in the Hideout, and not bother w/ the main forum at all (aside from cleanup/moderating duties).

Problem partially is that phpBB doesn't support tags or categories at all, so it can't be enforced "naturally". There are other, more modern, forum software that do, such as Vanilla - which is bloody fantastic btw. Vanilla is also better suited for "one single large forum" settings, since it makes it alot easier to track topics and what discussions you're part of.skrewface wrote:... Perhaps forcing a TAG before the titles for ex. [Drum & Bass] Mix by Dj Gonorrhea or [Reggae] The Asshole Show on 98.7 FM. Maybe even [Video] Wiley on Youtube ...
from day one, we've tried our best to run a glitch free forum. glitch free also means that we like to keep it as simple as possible. the more complex the code, the more it conflicts with different browsers. phpbb is heavily beta tested before official releases or updates. i've seen vanilla before but, we're long past the stages in this forum to go ahead and start testing software on 7000+ people. thanks for the suggestion though.Unempty wrote: Problem partially is that phpBB doesn't support tags or categories at all, so it can't be enforced "naturally".
