Friday 23rd March
Native, 15 Small Street, Bristol, BS1 1DE
10-4am
£5 entry all night

Techno / Electro / Breaks / Old Skool / Drum & Bass / Dubstep / Grime / Garage / Hip Hop / Reggae / Funk & Soul

A big thank you to all those who came and rocked it with Ellis Dee at our last party – it was another heavy session full of mash-up happy ravers!

For March we’re switching it up yet again, with an all-terrain bassweight session designed to shake Bristol to it’s very foundations. Combining established and upcoming talent from the worlds of dubstep, breakstep and beyond, the heavyweight firepower for Byte this time round comes in the lethal combination of SEARCH & DESTROY and SLAUGHTER MOB.

As if that wasn’t enough to make your ears pop, we’re also very excited to be welcoming local legend ATKI2 who will be performing a very special live set featuring the incredible vocal talents of INDI KAUR. Finish this mixture off with 4 of the best selectors in Bristol - along with the fact that this will be Bandit from Slaughter Mob’s birthday bash - and we have the formula for a massive party! And to top it all off we will be bringing in an extra rig to make sure the place is really shaking!

Here’s the bigboy line up for March - GET ME!!!

SEARCH & DESTROY [ Destructive / Hotflush / Storming ]
SLAUGHTER MOB [ Hotflush / Halo Beats / Soulja ]
ATKI2 featuring INDI KAUR – LIVE [ Werk Discs / Shadetek ]
PEVERELIST [ Punch Drunk / Rooted ]
KYMATIK [ Inperspective / Inprint ]
BUBONIC [ Forsaken / Inprint ]
BEAVIS [ Roots Radical ]

VISUALS BY THEDAVE

Free CD Giveaways / Sweets / Rave Banners and much more!

SEARCH & DESTROY [ Destructive / Hotflush / Storming ]

Bristol heads should need no formal introduction to this London-based duo. Drawing influences from a variety of genres, Search & Destroy aka Lohan & Prior have put their own unique style into a scene already overflowing with talented producers and DJs. Having recorded for labels like Fragile Beats, Hotflush, Texture, Storming, Soulja and Combat Wax they took the next logical step in starting their own inprint Destructive Recordings. With a year planned of pushing even more experimental sounds and more DJ gigs ahead, their futureshock attack on Byte can’t come soon enough. Tonight Lohan will be on a solo mission to splinter subs and reduce Bristol to rubble with a sure-fire selection, so be prepared for some serious bassweight pressure!

SLAUGHTER MOB [ Hotflush / Halo Beats / Soulja ]

Brought together by a shared love of dark garage all the way back in 1995, Slaughter Mob aka DJ Bandit, DJ Gritty, MC Vicious & MC Dangerous have been tireless hard-workers in their march to the top. Skills developed in the studio have paid off in full with releases across labels like Hotflush, Halo Beats and Soulja. The release on Urban Graffiti is a smasher, Tinji 2 is an all out quirky banger and Stopper on the Our Sound LP mashes up raves differently, throw in Skream remixes and Vicious& Dangerous on the mic... SLT are the team to locate when you need all-out bass warfare in the club and Byte is proud to be letting them loose on the soundsystem!

ATKI2 featuring INDI KAUR – LIVE [ Werk Discs / Shadetek ]

Bristol producer Atki2 has carved a name out for himself with releases on Werk Discs, Shadetek and a forthcoming track ‘Douceur’ on the new Immerse doublepack. Already a firm favourite on the live circuit across Bristol and the UK, for Byte Atki2 is teaming up with vocalist Indi Kaur for an eagerly anticipated live set. The last time these two came together it was described by many as one of the most amazing performances you could hope to see, so don’t sleep on this – this is going to be incredible!

PEVERELIST [ Punch Drunk / Rooted ]

Peverelist is a busy man - one of the premier DJs in Bristol, the man behind Punch Drunk Records and the man behind the counter at one of the best record stores out there, Rooted Records. Not only that but with his new tracks ‘The Grind’ and ‘Erstwhile Rhythm’ on Punch Drunk blowing up all over the place, 2007 is warming up to be a very good year for him! We’ve wanted to drag him down to Byte for a while, and now we get the opportunity – you know this is going to be a heavy selection so see you down the front!

KYMATIK [ Inperspective / Inprint ]

Byte resident Kymatik is another Bristol mainstay working on pushing things forward, with the recent launch of new label Inprint showcasing fresh new talent. For this session he will be drawing on his trademark techniques and getting the crowd hyper with a sludge set, so expect the unexpected as he brings the basswave irrespective of genres.

BEAVIS [ Roots Radical ]

Back for his second time at the Byte controls, Beavis will be opening up proceedings with another quality selection of roots and good vibes!

Visuals on the night will be supplied by TheDave, working your eyeballs into a lather…

Thanks again to our resident artist Rory Doona for another fantastic piece of artwork, and our third character in our ongoing Bytebotz series – gotta get ‘em all!

I am ridiculously excited about this night. S&D and SLT! And perhaps many of you don't know about Atki2 (think Pinch remixes) but his live performance with Indi Kaur was arguably the best set I saw last year. It was something else. Believe me!

------------------------------------------------------

Competition Time!

To win guestlist for you and a friend AND a copy of the Substratum EP just out on Immerse simply answer the dead simple following question. Both Atki2 and Peverelist are performing at this month’s Byte, what cracking recent release involves them both?

Pop your answer and your full name in the thread and the winner will be picked at random (right answer required Razz ), please don’t enter if you can’t make it though!

Great night, thanks to everyone who repp'd and showed native what bassweight is all about.

Quality sets from Jackov, Kymatik, Peverelist, Lohan from S+D (big ups mate- quality weekend, tru soldier bro ;) ), and the one like Slaughter Mob! Special mention goes to the live set by Atki2 and Indi Kaur- one word- wow. Indi's signing is nothing short of amazing, and Sam's beats as ever were heavy as!

Roll on the next one- Fri 27th April @ Native (Small St, Bristol). Baobinga + ID/ Josh Console/ Kid Chameleon + Mr Bump/ Punksi/ Al Dare/ Jackov + Kallender. £5/Conc.
