Djs, slow blends or cuts?
To be perfectly honest I do a bit of both. More so depending if there is some sort of melody going on in the tune you are bringing in or coming out of. Anyone?
LOVE long blends cuttings ok only if ure bringin out a WOBBLETASTIC SUB BASS STORMER but otherwise blend ting is where its at!
but i hate having to take the bass nearly completely out of one tune when both tunes are in in dubstep! does ne one else find this! as 99% of the time if u leave both bass in u get a sloppy mess! ahah and the mans dem dont rate that!

if you have 2 basslines playing at the same time in any genre you'll get a messtrigga!!! wrote:LOVE long blends cuttings ok only if ure bringin out a WOBBLETASTIC SUB BASS STORMER but otherwise blend ting is where its at!

innit blaze!
i know ud get a mess with most genres but when double dropping in dubstep its very rare to find two basslines that compliment each other completely and can be left in together for a true double drop, if you get me!
i think im just complaining about a problem that doesnt even exist ahahah

I prefer not to take my bass out entirely. try droppint it out about 1/4 the way down. I have noticed some pretty interesting results from doing this, although it does help if the basslines are similar. I'll pump the mids a bit if there is a vocal or some other noticeable noise from the exiting tune. But yeah,...no full on double drops.trigga!!! wrote:LOVE long blends cuttings ok only if ure bringin out a WOBBLETASTIC SUB BASS STORMER but otherwise blend ting is where its at!

Cuts are the bizzness too though. I find myself cutting in when I enter a mix or even just dropping the track from the beginning,...much like hip hop djs do. I really dig chopping in and out of a mix, this is where the more minimal stuff can be utilized IMO. Crowds go nuts over that type of thing....and the spatial qualities of Dubstep make it sorta easy. A little scratch out here and there never hurt.
I love a long well blended mix though,..like almost house styles. So yeah, I guess I'm 50/50 on it.

if your timing is right and the tunes are boning eachother you can double drop nicely with what ever the fcuk you want. Just about level control. imho

cutz !!!! i love ot record mixtapes from different genres including nu school breaks, grime and dubstep. hard to do without preparation but most time im mixing at home with friends so no one claims about some mixing failures. most about cuts but it sounds great entering some skream anthem while the breakfasterz are still rinsing!
