Reflux - Looking down the barrel [320]

Post by Friendly Editing » Wed May 30, 2007 12:33 pm

Finally I finished a new tune. Started with something totally different but then it suddenly ended up in a remix - but you'll see about that...
The tune can be found at the reflux-link in the signature. the player is loaded with a 320 for download.

feedback welcome and appreciated as usual...

Edit: I returned to myspace over the last year, so don't look for a "reflux-link" as mentioned above. just check it on my myspace and hit me up if you're feeling the tune(s)!

2nd Edit: After the positive feedback and because this one wasn't ever intended to get a release or sth. I thought I'll give you another 320-link for the 2nd version:

EDIT: :a:

The link shouldn't stop you from telling me if you're feeling it or if you're playing it out somewhere

Enjoy!

3rd and final edit: Newly mastered 320-version of the tune can be found here: http://www.divshare.com/download/5348106-53b

haha nice remix bruv

arps are hot but the snare is a bit flat, so I'd smash with some reverb and call it good!

ok, gave the snares some boost and fixed 2 small bugs I haven't heard before... guess this'll be the final version until I find out how to get good results out of mastering tools...

enjoy!

DOOOD! TUNE! Can I get a 320 of Barrel of a gun? Im liking that one quite a bit, the player doesnt have a downloadable version on it. It would get many spins when I play...

You should hit up DopeLabs over at www.dubstep.fm about getting those in the player between live shows, hes good like that.

the download should work again now. just forgot to push the "downloadble"-button after uploading the final version...

thanks for the tip about DopeLabs, maybe I'll do so.

you got some nice tunes on the virb space mate.

really like all three, esp desire - nice and glitchy!

but i would boost up the sub on all three tracks
they are definitely lacking in weight

thanks horse,

desire had been my first dubstep-influenced tune and I deleted some of the samples by accident, so I there won't be an updated/sub-boosted version for this one...

the problem with boosting up the subs in general is that I don't have proper monitors - just using headphones and regular speakers and the mixdown is always just a kind of compromise between the both. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the best results, but it's kind of a "work in progress" - always trying to get it better the next time...

hahah when i saw the subject title i hoped for a BBoy remix and i got what i wanted .....and off one of my all time favorite lp´s ... Paul´s Boutique ...a timeless lp .....a fuckin awesome classic bangin lp....

i really like the remix ...ive repeated it here quite a few times....electronic...minimal....pumpin...fresh....

id probably add some more depth into it ...some details....some thing more .....the original lp is so fucking deep...hallucinogenic ....pure lsd ....so many layers and details and surprises.....im definitely satisfied with your remix....its working ....its moving, pumpin fresh...but still ....recheck the original lp and maybe you will agreee....

your remix is minimal...and its working....and i defo dig all the basics of it ....and i dig it like it is ....but check Terror Danjah´s Give it to em (feat. MZ Bratt & Bruza) from the Warrior Dubz (Planet Mu) ....that track is deep and detailed and got some surprises coming.....

the break in your remix with the vocal sample is a surprise and a detail like that .....and its perfect and ironic ...for the kids ....nowadays when so many youngsters live and die hiphop... and ironic cos that lp was the last real thuggish / political incorrect thing off em....

your intro is also great... gives no clue to what is gonna come... and then the scream and off it goes.... the same with the break and the vocal sample in the middle....puts the listener into a totally different world...and then baaang back again....tricking the audience....excactly what i want....

uhhh another potentially nasty slammin Brooklyn dirtbomb remix could come off abusing Necro or his brother Ill Bill´s sick and demented rhymes....check it dude....pure ruffnesss...and gunshots would be very suitable 8)

uhmnnn and yes thanks for the remix ...the track Desire hit me too...niceness ...keep it up :W:

gret review MJ75, had some fun reading it... like I said before this tune wasn't planned as a remix, after I had made the instrumental I was just playing around with the acapellas for fun and started to like it.

to be honest: I haven't listened to the original for years, still haven't after finishing this remix, but it's great to see that somebody loving the original as much as you do likes my tune, so I think I didn't screw it up totally...

thanks for your words and for liking it "minimal"

cheers

After checking Barrel... I had to take a listen to the others as well. The Remix is a funky head nodder. and the others are stand outs as well. I'm going to give them all a proper blasting through the Monitors and PA during daylight hours.. The Neighbors are asleep.

hiphop and loads of dance music is really functionel and moving being minimal and stripped down.... emphasizing on beats and bass...the essence and what makes ppl move and nod their heads.... and i defo dig all your basics and especially the sample and break in the middle supports the BBoys´lyrics ....and that and the intro puts the listener into another world.......hell i dig it all......but still still still.... do yourself a favour..... smoke a blunt and RECHECK that lp.... and check out what i meant with hallucinogenic and lsd inspiration....most of the Paul´s Boutique lp is also kinda minimal in the core elements....but its filled with sick n slick details....mahhh ill shut my mouth...dont let me manpulate with ya.....big up and keep up the good work :D:

I'm really appreciating your passion about the tune and Paul's Boutique, MJ75. be sure that I'll check it out when I find the time. You finally convinced me

thanks cringer, though I have no idea what "stax" means, but I guess it's not something too bad...

Where's that 320 then! Love the original. Have you heard the Senser version of this track?
