WORD.

here's what mainly inspired me -->

quote from a special features interview on a dvd i watched recently,
that really resonated with me...

"american audiences can find hong kong films kind of schizophrenic, because they have like, you know, comedy this moment, this crazy action sequence in this moment, big tragedy in this moment, alright, big love story here, more comedy and then action, violence, boomboomboom boomboom... but, in hong kong, audiences -- and again you're dealing with poor people going to the movies, i mean you are dealing, really, with a lot of peasants going to movies and paying money -- and you know what? they wanna have the whole emotional experience, alright, when they go to the movies. they want everything for the price of the ticket. and our sophistication is now starting to work against us. we've sophisticated ourselves out of tears, we've sophisticated ourselves out of enjoyment, and out of believing in magic, almost. and, uhh, it's a damn shame. i mean, everything's gotta be so hip, and so cool, and so... detached."

that being said, though, the next one (gimme about a month) will be purely dubstep... just for the sake of doin' it.

yeah i know -- bugs me too.
but i liked too much how things ended up with the complete layering of the photek over '444'.
only option would have been to cut the codebase tune a bit short.

i love this kind of thinking. all my favorite dj's are proper selectors - they've got the taste to mix it up as much or as little as necessary.

[plug]
in the few mixes i've done (i aint no dj, this is my fucking around with ableton, tho sometimes in front of a crowd], i tend to mix a lot of things. see:
http://www.secretagentgel.com/sum.mix.1.asp
http://www.secretagentgel.com/mix.leroy_brown.asp
tho neither feature much dubstep. my new live setup will be mainly my own tunes with some mashups, but also featuring different vibes, tempos. i find it more fun than the same things all night.
