Daniel Levitin said in his book “This is Your Brain on Music,” that a master craftsmen is someone who has logged over 10,000 hours at a given trade. Bone Loc is a true Master Craftsmen DJ, with more than 10,000 hours logged behind the technics.
Bone loc is the relatively new alter ego of Bones Jones (Drum and Bass Producer/DJ/Promoter). Bones Jones, ran Upstate New York’s longest running drum and bass weekly for over 6 years, “Jungle Bums.” Bones and his Jungle Bums crew were responsible for bringing enormous amounts talent to Upstate New York. I. E. Ed Rush, Optical, Gridlok, Pendulum (first North American appearance), Noisia (first North American appearance), Dom and Roland, Tech Itch, Stakka and Skynet to name a few. Bones’ lineups and track listings have consistently been cutting edge and made musical/logical sense. It was only after stopping the Jungle Bums weekly that Bones found time to travel, and experience other scenes.
It was in dingy lofts and basements booming with sub-bass, where Bones fell in love with dubstep. Out of this love and new found appreciation for dubstep, the Bone Loc persona was born. Being able to be take in the west coast’s thriving and progressive dubstep scene, gave Bone Loc a unique perspective on dubstep. When Bones returned to the studio after a break from producing both personas had tremendous boosts in output and creativity.
In Early 2009 Bone Loc had his first release come out, Bone Loc “King Bong” on Stupid Fly. “Bong Song,” as some on the forums would call it, was a great introduction to the Bone Loc sound. “King Bong’s” large creature synths and quirky fun samples helped keep the release a top ten seller on digitaltunes .net for several weeks.
Bone Loc is set to drop an extremely heavy, deep, funky and futuristic six (6) song ep, the “Loc, Like Cloak EP,” on Betamorph Recordings. The scheduled release date is August 15th 2009. The EP does a great job showcasing Bones’ versatility as a Dubstep producer. Look for a Bone Loc tour throughout the late summer and fall to promote the Betamorph Recordings release.
Throughout Bones' DJ and production career he has made a name for himself not only with his master craftsmen mixing and selection skills, but also with hand to hand combat promotion. Literally thousands of copies of Bones’ mixes have been handed out in North America from coast to coast.
Bone Loc’s Ogre Anthems series continues his tradition of quality mixes. The mixes have been extremely well received on forums and all over the net by DJ’s, producers and fans of dubstep alike.
Bone Loc’s Ogre Anthems 3 is set to drop on CD, forums, blogs, and everywhere in between shortly before the release date of the “Loc, Like Cloak EP.”

Currently Bones continues to produce high quality music a rapid pace under both the Bone Loc and Bones Jones personas
