Re: sampling

You can get a lot of cool glitchy effects by getting in there with your scissors and chopping manually (like in the olden days). Chop, duplicate, halve the length, duplicate, halve again etc. Taking a single measure and timestretching it out to a bar also sounds pretty good. Play around really. Bit...

Re: what do you like best for a gig?

have you seen bassnectar play live? No, but I heard he isn't very good...talks too much and just stops the music a lot. I could care less about what other people use as long as they are rocking it. I just can't get into a groove when a set is primarily pre-planned and nothing is going on except som...

Re: what do you like best for a gig?

Its awesome. In some senses, it changes the “sport”…whereas one of the GOALS used to be beatmatching, that is now pretty irrelevant. And its sad, if your sport was showing off how wonderfully you can beat match, because that has really become obsolete. Although i can beat match as instantaneously a...

Re: what do you like best for a gig?

Vinyl and acetates only aside from dubs I didn't get cut yet, then it's serato or cd for those few tunes. Most people I've seen use abelton don't play it like a live pa. It's all prebuilt playlists with the tracks "warped" and auto beatmatched perfectly (no headphones needed) then just a ...

Set list Advice

Does anyone have any useful advice on preparing a set list? I run ableton 8 with an Akai MPD32 for my knob controls and a novation launchpad. I've currently got all my tunes in different ableton files that i work on. What is the best way to consolidate everything to play a full set?
