Re: Native Instruments "Massive Threat" Instrument for "Dubstep"

fixed it by installing KorePlayer 2.1 - installed on the g5, then Massive Threat that I'd tried to run started working - not a bad selection of sounds for starters in the end

Re: Native Instruments "Massive Threat" Instrument for "Dubstep"

thought I'd check it out with the Kore coupon the other night - turns out the installer refuses to install on non intelmac.. weird, as Kore Player runs fine on non intelmac.. Theres a hack that can fool the installer somehow - still workin on it otherwise refund will be demanded..

Re: WHAT TYPE OF PIANOS IN OLDSCHOOL RIDDIMS

I would sample one piano note ( a middle C?) and then assign that across
the keyboard preferably at an 8 bit SR.

That will give you a nice crunchy and stretched out old school vibe.

totally - even sampling the GM Piano 3 in Quicktime might work if you're really stuck.. then process accordingly ...

...and while there are plugins that are supposed to emulate the sound of a Space Echo, none of them really come close because it has its own sound properties (like saturation & analog hiss) that IMHO just can't be modelled accurately yet.
That's probably true, but IMHO, the saturation and analog ...

Re: king tubby style delays?

Never heard a convolution spring verb, how do they sound. Seems like something convolution couldn't do, the spring being so extraordinarily organic.

there's a few spring options in logic's space designer... not particularly nuts about them, they do sound oddly sampled and consistent. springs ...

yeah - I totally agree - ended up sampling my Korg MS10 doing sine notes [through Brick tube pre and TL tube comp] chopped up the samples - taken at dim intervals for loading up - works great in Kontakt - link will work for 20 days

Re: Those pure sine waves that someone mixed down in cooledit...

The ms10 only has triangle waves as the purest waveform, but with that delicious lowpass filter you can get it sounding really deep. As far as the difference between synthesized and mathematically generated and then sampled sines, there really is no discernible difference. Most synths, even "analog ...

The good softsamplers these days have pretty much zero aliasing.
