Re: Reason vs Ableton

reason is so sick for the synths and some of the fx i.e scream. I learnt in reason, and then moved to reaper as you simply cant do without the possibilites for audio, makes sampling resampling and any sort of audio editing so much easier. Its all about the rewire. Use reason like a vst within ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@lucaskane - sounds real nice, teh chilled piano vibes are great, could do withsome extra percussion, even just delayed one shots to spice it up a wee bit, but look forward to hearing more on this one.

@Iorek, the ideas are nice, the mid range bass doesnt really fit witht he track, sounds out of ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@budspencertron - power people - love how glitchy your stuff is, feelin the intro, but that squeltchy bass sometimes gets lost in its own squelch and loses all power.

- mustachio - such a cool tune, enjoyed the weirdness of it all. I really cant suggest any ways to make it better, just wanted to ...

or turn off tempo sync and automate it, that gets rid of the skipping, then you just have to work out where 3/16 is on the knob

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@stealth elf - likin the ideas behind it. Think it sounds a bit empty at times, might just be coz im not gettin much sub on my monitors though. that pad sound that comes in every now and again could come forward in the mix and be more prominent.

@danimal - interesting stuf mate, very chiptune to ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@badboysebastian: this is fire. loving all the rhythms you got goin on. think the kick sounds a little hollow. i also think the track needs some sort of less fierce breakdown at some point otherwise it dose start to drag, could then drop in the heavier section after.

@hakka a haunting: beats are ...

Stereo Imaging

I use reason frequently for the synths mainly the thor, i love it for making bass patches especially and something I cannot live without is the stereo imager native to reason, it has 2 bands so for instance you can set below 400 hz to mono and above that extenuate the stereo spread. I work in reaper ...

Do you have any idea whats wrong with the broken one at all? I have a limited knowledge so just want to ascertain whether or not its fixable. I would buy them off you just to use the one, but only got about £50 atm, see what I can do

Re: The Reaper Q&A Thread

anyone know why the first kick on my audio track is really weak compared to the rest of them in the loop?

I think this si just something that you have to accept with reaper, ive never got round it, first kick drum on teh track always comes out slightly muffled like i t starts playing a fraction ...

Re: [production bible 2] Soundcards

i'm looking for an external usb audio interface that would be good for djing (using traktor on my pc), allow me to easily record audio from my pc onto my tape deck (and vice versa), and record audio from my turntable/keyboards onto my pc. I can do all this stuff right now, but it's a pain hooking ...

how do you do this on reason? Anybody know?
On Maelstrom you just click the "One Shot" button in the lfo, cant remember what this is called on all the other synths but its something similar. That gives you just one cycle of the lfo.

Re: How necessary are audio interfaces?

i have the fast track pro, i bought it purely due to latency issues with my stock soundcard and so i could have multiple outs to use traktor with and still monitor on phones. and although it has solved those problems, its an absolute bitch with drivers. It has a problem when more than one program is ...

Re: Phaeleh drums

yeh i think its to do with shortening a lot of samples so theres a lot of space in the beat, whcih helps get that shuffle and possibly envoloping of the samples with a slight attack to get that fade in pop out kinda feel. Phaeleh nails drums every tiem. I think its also simply to do with how every ...

Re: Need help choosing my first synth, ZERO hardware experie

The first question that comes to mind when I see what you've typed is...

Why do you want a hardware synth?

I went over this in my head a HEAP of times - and discovered that I generally wanted one cos others had one, and made cool sounds with it. But getting past that I realized - I just want to ...

Although I agree with the original post, thread should be renamed to "White noise can be awesome." I'm always sooo impressed with James Blake's use of white noise. Can't think of anybody else these days that uses it as well or effectively as he does.

me too man, klavierwerke is an EP that is ...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011

@ Projekt - owl - electricity nice and chilled, dkick and snare could have a bit more impact as the tracks quite minimal thats quite important. Maybe a tad more reverb as well to make things gel together as at the moment it doesnt really feel like it sits in a space. got some good ideas in there, i ...
