Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

when I play it on other notes the sample becomes shorter, modulates quicker... and doesn't sound right. How do samplers work? When you tell the sampler to play the sample at a different pitch, it just speeds it up or slows it down. This is completely normal. If you don't want that to happen, you'll...

Re: Confused about gain structure now..

There's a master volume slider in the top left of FL Studio. Middle-click it to reset it to zero and middle-click the master level fader in the mixer, while you're at it.

Re: Confused about gain structure now..

You have to turn up the low-frequency sarcasm detection on all your compressors. But anyways, the numbers don't matter. -6db is not a magical number that will make things sound better. Step away from the tree and try to find the forest. The best solution would be to do more research on digital audio...

There are many different kinds of delays. It's hard to give suggestions without knowing what you're looking for.

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

How can I mono below a desired frequency on a channel of choice? Maximus, on the low band, set stereo separation to 100% merged. It's the only thing I use Maximus for. As for the rewire bunch of channels template, go new from template, other, patch bank. Delete all the stuff you don't want and over...

Re: Audio Question.

Er, I mean digital output from laptop... Going with digital is more of a hassle. Do you think the DAC on the amp would be better than the one in whatever interface you would need? So, no, I don't think converting digital audio into analog at the amp would sound significantly better than converting i...

Re: Audio Question.

You would need a digital input on your laptop, which it probably doesn't have. It would probably be better to get a USB audio interface, run analog into it and let the amp be an amp.

Re: FL Studio - Rendered Track Sounds Different * SOLUTION

You may want to do some research into what all these settings actually do.

Also, did you try recording the audio into Edison on the master and comparing that (i.e., switching phase and combining) with the rendered file?

Re: natural reverb idea

I also think you should record an impulse response. It will record the sound of the mic and the rest of the signal chain as well as the room, but it could still sound cool. It's nice to have your own little reverb that you can slap on anything with just a plugin aaand it's also a very good excuse to...

Re: making my music "heavier"

Listen to figure out which frequency ranges have too much going on. Cut those frequencies on tracks that don't need them, i.e., highpass everything. Keep the low frequencies mono.

Re: Headphone Amplifiers

It depends on the impedance of the headphones, measured in ohms.

For all the money and trouble, you might as well just get monitors, especially for mixing. You're also less likely to go deaf.

Re: Complex drum sequencing, jungle, jazz etc...

I like to chop every sound out of a break and add 'air' to end of each one, so that it sounds like the drum is fading out naturally instead of just cutting out where the next hit starts. Then I make a velocity layer in my sampler for each sample of each drum and smack the pad controller or mouse it ...

Re: Need Advice Plz

If you learn one synth like the back of your hand, any others you try will be simplez.

Subtractor would be good for getting to know subtractive synthesis, Thor for more modular type stuff, I wouldn't focus on Malstrom as it's pretty unique.

While they're fun to look at, they are only very, very rarely useful; I wouldn't worry about it.
