Re: Do you study music at college or uni?

And how are you finding it? I'm thinking of returning to college, but am still debating what to study! :) Pat I go to school for music.. I get $5350 USD per semester to go to school for music, and I just spend it on studio gear. The only classes I have found useful though are world music and music ...

Midi Keyboard Storage

Hi all, I'm just wondering if it is safe to store my midi keyboard and synth vertically.. I just bought a new dj setup & stand and it has taken the place of my keyboard stand.

Any advice?

Re: Worst standard DAW ever...

Well... hadn't been on here in a few days... Its amazing to see how quickly egos can clash on the internet. My question was answered a while ago.. and thanks to all who ACTUALLY contributed something of VALUE. And thanks to those who defended my point/question.. I don't feel that a production forum ...

Re: Worst standard DAW ever...

Where do I begin? Mainly... I dislike Pro Tools' lack of MIDI implementation.. and even while it has improved upon that flaw recently, its still nothing to write home about... and the whole bit about "a poor artist is always the first to blame their tools"... agreed, but you're out of cont...

Worst standard DAW ever...

And the award goes tooo...... PRO TOOLS!!! Honestly... as an electronic musician, I find pro tools to be more of a hindrance than anything... I'm wondering, do any of you use this "non-official standard" for production? I feel like that simply because Pro Tools has been around since the bi...

Re: HEY DJ! Torq vs. Scratch

Don't even consider Torq.. you'll just end up regretting it and wishing you hadn't been so cheap.

I'd say get Traktor or Serato.

Care to point out the pros and cons you came across?

I don't have a lot of time on my hands, so if you can describe to me what it is you like about the pad kontrol I'd greatly appreciate it

Re: About to buy a Trigger Finger

lol.. i'm not looking for something sensitive or amazing.. just something to tap beats out on and edit in a DAW.

Unless of course you guys think I should just get an MPD 32... If its worth it, I'd much rather go with that.

About to buy a Trigger Finger

So I'm about to pick up a used M Audio Trigger Finger for $30, but it works through its MIDI output, and not through its USB connector. Will this hinder its usefulness? I can connect it to my interface with MIDI, I'm just wondering if there are any of you out there who own one of these and can tell ...

Re: Any sub-woofer suggestions?

I've got Alesis M1 active monitors thru my Mackie 1202 mixer.. If I boost the low end on the mixer I get more bass (duh), but I don't think that is a reliable method for getting a better feel for the bass i'm puttin out, you know?

any more suggestions/bits of advice?
