Hi i was just wondering if you lose third party plug ins like Rob Papen stuff when you upgrade from Logic 8 studio to Logic 9?
I'm asking because I bought them as software downloads and don't have the actual box?
Anyone know if I'll lose the plug ins and my custom presets?
thanks
Austin

Re: TECHNIQUES TO FILL OUT SILENT PARTS OF A TRACK
Doss about with automatic double tracking
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_double_tracking
Very crude start is to duplicate a layer, then position it less than a 32nd/64th note, in order to have two seperate tracks that may only be interpretated as one track due to faults with the way a mind ...

Re: TECHNIQUES TO FILL OUT SILENT PARTS OF A TRACK
Bounce down your pads and incidentals and melody-lines. Have a go with extreme stretching/reversing, and the obvious reverb and delay. I like to keep my atmosphere as processed parts of my tune, like a reversed and stretched out bell hit, for example. It just adds a nice touch to the tune. But yeah ...

Re: Chord Inversions (Basic Useage)
well, the chords in the second picture are C F Em, which is not I V IV at all. and anyway arent you talking about I IV V and not I V IV? I IV V makes a lot more sense, V is the dominant chord. Sorry for being a tnuc and ruining this, and sorry if im wrong  .

Re: Detecting tune key
Excuse my ignorance, but by detecting tune key, do you mean for your own tune when producing, or for other tunes when DJ'ing? because when DJ'ing, theory cant really help you out, you just need to be able to hear if the two tunes fit.

Re: How to effectively use the minor scale?
I would say it's actually the 3rd and the 7th that really give it it's sound. My jazz teacher used to tell me, you really only have to play the 3rd and 7ths to outline a chord, especially when the bass is holding down the root (I am a bass player btw). The 3rds and 7ths will tell you if you are in ...

Re: How to effectively use the minor scale?
Well, of course adding the A in stead of the c as root is a start. Else than that, try to think tones that gives the minor scale a defined sound, which does not fit in the major scale. For example the #6 or the b5, and the tones included in an Am pentatonic scale. Also adding the major seventh ...

Re: Detecting tune key
Would EarMaster Pro or anything like that help with identifying the key of a tune?
Yes! Do it, there's no quesiton. Some people would think earmaster is silly, and a waste of time, but it's reaally a good programme. It helps you so much in getting better at navigating harmonics. I have been doing ...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- MAY 2010
@tripwire: Good tune, the bitcrushers do really well! The drums sound a bit weak. And it sounds like theres no velocity on the kick, which really gets annoying, to have the kick punching at the same volume all the time is no good! the melody is really good, i love all those small atmosphere elements ...

Re: Sidechain compression
simple: do you wanna get your sound, and then sidechain that whole thing, or do you want to affect the sound of the already-sidechained material?
experiment.
Yeah i figured that that was what it pretty much came down to. But theres no pros and cons or anything? I guess i'll just follow my ears ...
