there is probably a square or a saw even in there. Reverb - maybe some subtle chorus - distortion. If you are using Massive using a bit of modulation on a formant setting might help out (it is pretty squelchy)

and as far as the need for a pre-amp goes: wouldnt your audio interface work as an amp device for your headphones?

I love my AKG 240's Ive had the MK1 version for about 5 years and no complaints yet. The cord is a bit long but it is replaceable - these things are comfortable and extremely hard to break. Really flatline response for headphones too.

The snare is the run of the mill cut below 150~ hz, peak 200, slight midrange dip and slight treble rise EQ very very very light reverb on the snare (like 10 percent w/d). And im not sure that i've even heard that track you mentioned before XD - thanks for the feedback

Added an edit with a sharper sounding snare - let me know which sounds better or if im even going in the right direction ;p

Pretty good all around, only criticism is that your bassline sounds like it is being played too low - it is all much to heavily distorted in the low end. Try maybe playing it on higher notes and adding a clean sine sub underneath it to give it that bassy oomph to compensate
