Re: Uneven loops?
Mmm The answer here seems to be to loosen up and go with the flow of my track, and I couldn't agree more. I just wanted to know if there was something simple I was missing... sometimes I feel like I have some dyslexia related to numbers. Anyway, I like where you're going with your new tentacle noway...

But the issue there is that it changes the melody completely.

Uneven loops?
I'm pretty sure this is a basic concept, but I have been producing for about 4 years and I still haven't grasped it. Say you're playing around in ableton session view and you have an idea for a looping melody. You sequence it out using your midi keyboard. Then you try to loop it and the loop length ...

glitchy, skippy rhythms... but somehow smooth
Hi all, it's been a minute since I came around here. I've been listening to this https://soundcloud.com/alizzz/arista and this https://soundcloud.com/willowbeats/alchemy-1 NON stop. I don't really know what kind of music you'd call it, but I am FEELING it. I have no idea how to do this kind of thing...

Re: how to get Joker's trademark sound in Reason?
yes, vibrato with a medium rate and low depth so it doesnt sound like a siren. Detuning and layering saws and square waves. Chorus and Flangers can help. Square wave bass for the midrange. Pure sine subs. Simple but delicious drums. listen to Dr Dre's The Chronic and then strip the vocals and sample...

Re: Boards of Canada - Geogaddi - Pure inspiration?
my first ever trip was soundtracked by music has the right to children - fucking incredible in that context. Actually, the trip was terrible but it only started to go downhill after I stopped paying attention to the music, or the album finished... I'm not sure which happened. ;) But seriously, never...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JULY 2010
@joma - nose dive - Nice tune man, can't think of anything to criticize I just really like your style. the sampling is simply top notch in this track. matchstick men is a bit repetitive for my taste but the sampling is great there too. overall, I'd say your shit is some of my favorite stuf...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JULY 2010
@tripwire - love the samples of rain. drums are tight and just punchy enough. overall just wow! a top notch deep track. nothing more to say about it. @jaspervc - not usually into anything this dirty but the energy is undeniable :) i love the hoover. I just really enjoyed the track, didnt think i wou...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JULY 2010
@bugsky - yeah i knew that repetition would be a problem... I'll fix it up though and hopefully the sucker will be close to done. anyway Your new track has some quite nice vibes, its overall a bit slow for my taste but everything fits together very well. I especially dig the plucked instrument. I wo...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JULY 2010
in hopes of getting some more feedback, I'm giving more out. @GRAYSKALE - I thought your tune had some nice original ideas when it came to percussion and I liked the way the wobble was rather mellow, rather than sticking right out of the mix like it all too often does these days. Not sure its really...

Re: FINISHED TRACKS FOR FEEDBACK-- JULY 2010
@hakka- I love when it changes from the break section to the 8 bit organ sound! fantastic transition. the breaks are catchy as hell throughout. @goudger - an incredibly chill track with a nice vibe, could use a little more motion for my taste though. @haack - I also agree that the track needs a litt...

Re: I hate absynth
well its safe to say that i'm going to spend more time with it. For the record, I DO understand sound design, I just found this synth to be very non-user friendly. But then again, I've only loaded it up a few times.

I hate absynth
recently got absynth and am finding it really frustrating to work with. maybe its just my reaction to the gui or something but i have knowledge of semimodular and subtractive synthesis and this thing is just kind of a bitch. is it worth sticking with it? do others find absynth really non user friend...
