dubstep is a culture in a way... but its more of a bass culture which represents many different styles of bass heavy music. I love the mid range dubstep that's kicking about, it always gets me going, but you have to delve in and go deeper.... I love the heavy sub bass rollers with good steppy drums...

In terms of artists you should check... For ones similar to what you suggested - circus records crew, sub soldiers label, rusko, 16 bit, bar 9, stenchman, Borgore (though I hate his stuff)# Dj's not similar but equally as good/better - joker, starkey, DMZ, skream, benga, gemmy, james blake, goth tr...
