I’m a great believer in growth by challenge: taking on tasks that force you to reach beyond your personal comfort zones and clichés. With that in mind I give you the following six compositional challenges. Take them seriously and I guarantee they will nudge ...

I started this project around March and finally got it where I like it. I'd very much appreciate some feedback, and if you dig it, free 320 available on the cloud

Re: drums question
Something i've been doing a lot for those punchy drums, is just simple layering + effects and EQ.
For that kick:
1.) Get a good subby(lo) kick
2.) Get a good wooden knock sounding(hi) kick
3.) Layer with a fast attack fast decay(mid) kick
4.) EQ to boost the best sounding frequency
5.) Compress and ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@jetpack- I really dig the groove, but the drums overpower the mix a little too much for my taste. Love the harmonics going on in the background too.
@Cheeky- Dat snare. Love the lead and wonky robot bass.

Re: Excision style bass on massive
One thing I can recommend is making a bass sound you want in massive and then setting an unused osc to Rough Math II and formant. Adjust the WT-Pos and and then automate the intensity. Good for those hydraulic noises.

Re: LMBRJCK - you are not alone
Oh my god.
I took a RANDOM pop song (Jojo - Baby Its You) acapella and tossed it on top out of curiosity. There are NO effects besides a pitch down. The effect blew my mind. Did someone slip me a mickey or does anyone else hear what could be done with a little work on it. Like cutting some of the ...

RZA. I've always had respect for his production style.

Re: Things you wish you knew when you started producing?
To be entirely truthful, I had NO idea how to use automations when I first started making music in FL studio a couple years back. I'd spend hours drawing in each detail or the notes and come up with a lot of weird workarounds. Like using dbglitch for pitchdowns and wub noises. It'd sound like ...

Re: Getting Started Help
You're getting a little too caught up in gear if you're wanting to make your own style. I'd recommend just using what you feel most comfortable with and putting the metaphorical pen to paper and letting your ideas loose. If you have to ask if you need it, rather than deciding you need it for a ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@atticuh I love the all the sounds used, however I feel you could introduce them a bit better. Maybe slowly ramp up the hats with a filter or fader until you want to bring them in strong. I could be wrong though, longer intros always throw me off. Lovely tune though so far.

Re: LMBRJCK - you are not alone
Snare is a bit dry for my taste, I would add some compression and eq it a bit differently, this definitely isn't the style of stuff I make though. I dig the melodic break down into the trancy, american top 40 hip-house type lead, I could see a vocal going over this tune for sure, definitely a ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
thanks @thelmbrjck. Interesting point about sub, I may have to revisit that. Might be 1-2db a tad too loud. Thanks!
Is there some reverb on that kick? Hearing some kind of reflective bounce at the intro from it... buildup is a bit too loud - in fact it's louder than the drop - that's no good. you ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@amphibian: very nice atmosphere and drums, love the sub but I felt it peaks a little and takes away from some of the other elements that make up the track. (going off what was in your sig) This might be my speakers though, so I can't really say for sure... over all nice! :D
