Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

Um, who are the people you gave feedback to? @dubstep? Really?

Nice one. No worries then. Well done on the tune mate - proper banger.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@daftendirekt - Right, cool. How does the sub sound on your end? That's obviously the most important part - how it sounds to you.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@daftendirekt - Ah, I get that. Just to be safe, I'd boost the sub a little more. What are you mastering this on? Monitors or headphones?

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@daftendirekt - Sounding pretty good on my end. I'd suggest boosting your sub even a touch more, but it might be worth waiting to see what the other DSFers think :)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@daftendirekt - Always nice to give feedback even if you feel like you don't need to :) I reckon it'd be nice to get a lot more bass in there to be honest. Sounds a little lacking. The limiting and compression you've applied seems to have don the trick dynamically. Sounding spot on mate. Mostly ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@Captain Carnage - I love the intro here. Really nice feel. Your drums need to come up 3-4dB in the mix. Way down there. I reckon your snare doesn't need as much reverb as it has. Your hats need to come up a little, and it'd be nice to have some more in there with a much shorter tail. The piano ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@jimbeaux - I normally have the sub on one synth and the main grit of the sound on another. Allows me to go a bit mental with distortion and stereo width while keeping a nice clean mono sub. A bit of chorus before some stereo distortion can get good results. I sometimes like to group three synths ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@almostskate100 - Cheers for the feedback :) I'm fucking loving your tune dude! Really reminds me of stuff by Heyoka and Vibe Squad. Your drums and percussion sounds are spot on. I reckon you need to stick in a bit more sub in that main bass sound though. I can hear that there's a bit, but when it ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@GuitarJon - I really like the intro to this. I think you need a bit more of a build to the drop though. Your bass sounds need a bit more sub in there. Hard to hear. Just as a general point I'd say your bass sounds need a bit more work. They sound a little simple. I love the arrangement, but it'd ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@subfect - Ah, fair enough. Might be worth making that a little obvious. A new kick-snare pattern could be cool and would be a nice way of bringing in a little more energy. Not a fan of the vocals because of the autotune. Really gets on my nerves :P Not much you can do about it, and the bass more ...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

Haven't posted in here in AGES! So glad the community's still going at it hard. You guys are awesome.

subfect - Not a huge fan of the vocal sample, but that's just my personal taste. I reckon the hats could do with a bit more high frequency coming through. Would just make them sound a little less ...

:D Cheers. Yeah I agree. There's no way we could ever top the original. As long as it's better than the Mark Ronson version I'm happy :)

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@citizane - Those drums are sounding tight man. Huge snare - love it. The bass sounds post-drop could do with quite a lot less distortion. Try making gritty sounds in other ways (waveshaping, detuning, phasing, FM synthesis etc...). Some of the LFO modulation is a little awkward - it loses the beat ...
