Okay, so i DID search before posting and yet only found minimal resources on the topic.
But im curious as to how to construct a bone breaking snare. Best example is the track i am currently listening to (Skanky Sue - Mojo)
It doesnt sound as much of a snare as it does like a cowboy cracking a whip ...

Before the drop into the main chorus of a track there is usually that build up. One of the main features of this is either a nice sounding synth that just increases in pitch toward the drop or a massive swelling white noise etc... Don't worry about tuning drums to specific notes.

Tune them to sound good, and you're done.

sure i think all my drums sound good but i heard that a good tune of the drums can help boost feeling and smoothness.

is there one that is just a stand alone program that can just listen through my mic or something..

Digital Tuner for DAW Instruments?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a digital tuner that i could have on my computer as like an application that could tell me the note of my intruments, mainly my drums so i can tune them to a specific note eg. C, D#, E etc...

and so far acappellas4u.co.uk is probably the best one i have seen around.
