Re: DIY Dubstep Venue

Bar, security, CCTV, lights, soundsystem, office, cloakroom, storage for bar, big fat up floor = you're sorted

Oh, set aside some $$ for promotion/advertising. It's vital unless you happen to set up right next to somewhere like Pacha or Fabric (yes, i know theyre not in philly)

Talk to organisers ...

Re: best speakers for dubstep?

Did a bit of research on this myself a few months back. Best not-expensive, but good quality set up I could find was M-Audio Studiophile AV40's with a Polk PSW10 subwoofer, cost you around £220-250 in total. Spent a month or so of on-off research after my Bose 2.1 system broke (Ironically it stopped ...

Hardstyle/hardcore, Trance, DnB, Breakcore, IDM, Metal, various forms of music until my stoner friend introduced me to Africa VIP by C&R, it all went... downhill from there ^^
Had a phase where i went back to trancey stuff, but ive been back in the dubstep for a looong time

Agree. It's more of a Burial Dub than anything else, if there was a bit more layering in it then it'd steer clear of the dubby kind of style but to keep it dark but clean like Burial it's gonna need some fine tooth combing otherwise it'll start sounding ...

I think he's taking the piss..
Tunnidge said it's forthcoming on 'one of the biggest labels in dubstep'
go to a local dubstep 'rave' :u: and ask ppl who they think the biggest label in dubstep is. 9 out of 10 of the people would probably look at the celing with one eye, there nose with the other ...

I like it. To me mixes are usually the start of one song blended into the end of another... not simply two ontop of each other. Tis interesting to listen to. ^^

Re: Upcoming Mary Anne Hobbs Radio 1 Shows

Kind of insane that tomorrow night is the last show.

Indeed :(
I really hope for a recording so I can pump it out whenever, whereever I want. Heck i'd even pay album prices for the 2 hour set. I want it rather badly because I predict extreme amounts of epicness.

I created a discussion ...

Re: what do you like most about dubstep?

The guidelines for dubstep are what I like...

1. There must be bass.
2. Do whatever the f**k you want with it.
3. A good wobble never hurt anyone, yet it's not compulsary. (See: Burial)

And the fact it's very local to me, since I live in Bromley. It's near the epicentre of dubstep known as London ...

MA Hobbs' final show discussion.

Well as i'm sure some of you know, she's quitting BBC Radio1 to go.. somewhere to do with sheffield?
I'm predicting that it's going to be rather epic, considering it's a send off for the source of dubstep warz and various amusing musical things like that.

I'm trying to be a cheap c*** and find a ...

dubstep is becoming more favourable for those who used to listen to <insert a word>cores.. like metalcore, thrashcore/whatever the hell core!
being an overly observant 18 year old i can see this happening and even though it's good to get dubstep out, it's not good to give it the wrong image... its ...
