Re: Cant get drums to come thru
When my snare is lacking in presence in the track (but its hitting -8dbfs as a reference for a hard hitting snare) I use Transient Master from NI to increase the attack of the transient of the snare. There is probably some free sound shaper plug ins out there. This brings the snare to the front of t...

Re: How To Make This Sound - December 2011
Is there a source that lists what oscillator waveforms, including the basic filter and effects routing, are used for certain wobble sounds? I enjoy learning how to make the sound from basic steps and than just messing with the parameters. This helps me understand how the sound is formed and how I ne...

Re: How much do soundcards ACTUALLY help?
The better the sound card the more sound processing you can complete at the same time. This also means better sound quality before and when rendering to a file. When you have a dedicated soundcard (external or internal) you will be able to mix down properly. I use a Steinberg CI-2. The sound process...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Haven't checked in in a bit, CrewCutz - Suck Out - Good track so far. Kick should be more prominent in the mix though. It will sound better on the drops. mthrfnk - The End - Energetic track and first drop. I think the second build up kills the momentum a little bit? Maybe extend the synth that comes...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
thanks for feedback everyone @centurysam maybe i am plain stupid but i dont get the tip one hundret percent, do you mean like a breathing in and out kindy vibe like synth coming in slowly and breathing out with release? The wobble synth in your track plays from drop to finish. There is never any br...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
weedcali - Damn, I like where this is going. Love the atmosphere. At 1:20 you had me hooked. All the sounds are dope. I would work on the kick and make it punchier for the main parts of the song. I think the drops will stand out a bit more and it will give the song a heavier feel. :D bryan42690 - Th...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
No, I mean the whole portion that you listened to is the meat and bones of the song, so no build up or ending or rest. But thank you will try to keep some things simplistic. Around 0:25 it gets a lil messy. If you are just starting off there is nothing wrong with just sticking to a regular kick - s...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
Hey I'm fairly new at this, any feedback is welcomed :) This would be I guess the "drop" portion. http://soundcloud.com/derrek68/resample2 As in the beginning is the drop? Not much of a drop of there is nothing leading up to it. The middle looses rhythm. Try not too go to crazy with the d...

My roommate spins. I'm on the production front more so, but I can defn mix in some dirt so we did a lil bnf with house and dub last night. If you're in TO we should collab and bounce work off each other. I like your wip. Hard shit.T0X1K wrote:@Centurysam -> you spinning in Toronto mate?

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
@ alexvont12 - Cool track. You could turn the kick down or put a limiter on it. Maybe try to separate it from the synth, cause whenever the synth goes up in volume I heard some slight crackling. I like the mixdown on the hats. I have a concern with how effective the drops are. The kick and the hat c...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
s3f - that is sounding really mean so far. Good wobs. Slow down the panning rate imo, or w.e is making it move back n forth. Otherwise, Just gotta freshen up the kick and snare. resik21 - thats a good first tune dude. With a little composition work you got more than enough to lay out a sick chill du...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
We Bang - Wake the fuck up - Sick track so far. I really wanna hear the melody in the intro without the drums for a bit at the beginning, but thats a personal choice. Drop is wicked. Voice synth is bumpin on the breaks. Mechablossom - Ellie Goulding Lights Remix - This will be big! The wobs are dir...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
Thanks for the replies guys. Me thinks I was trying to do too much with that track. I still need to learn a proper way to separate the sound stage from the drums. I adjusted my sub bass as well. Check it.

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for JANUARY, 2011
projekt - electricity - Feelin the chill. This is the kinda stuff I love to listen to on DI with a cup of coffee in one hand and a splif in the other. Snares entrance is killer. Double check for clipping on the sub or work in a small descending pitch ramp to ease in the sub with the kick. Cool. mmms...

Re: WORKS-IN-PROGRESS for SEPTEMBER, 2010
btw - how would I go about beefing up my drums? thanks Layering samples - I usually use 3 samples for my snare and 2 for my kick. Than mess around with the gain and volume levels. Remember smallest adjustments make the biggest difference. If you want to quickly beef up your drums just layer another...

Re: NEED DUB DROP ASSISTANCE...
So after having a few laughs at this topic, I decided to go back and cut up one of my older samples to throw it into a quick bass drop. http://soundcloud.com/nextpandora/05-next-remix-wip-bass-drop Just like everyone said, there is no proper way to do a 'bass drop'. There is a very simple formula fo...
