Re: using beyerdynamics without an amp
nowaysj, looks like we are both working with the exact same monitors/headphones. I experience ALL of the symptoms you have and my mixes end up dull if i only use the rokits to reference. I also A-B with the beyers, dre beats pros, shure in ear (forgot the model, about $150), and sometimes bluetooth ...

Re: using beyerdynamics without an amp
here is a thread that I started a few months ago that may have some useful information for you. I currently am using: bd dt770 pro 250 ohm with no amp, and the krk rp5's. I use the dr dre beats pro for comparison/louder volumes. I find that the 770's just don't get loud enough for me sometimes. http...

Re: headphone amp/audio interface
I am taking a look at the spl auditor/phonitor headphone amps. My questions are: 1)will these amps make a significant difference in translation from headphones to speakers? 2) Would i need to upgrade my headphones if I were to purchase one of these? End goal is still to have mixes that are produced ...

headphone amp/audio interface
What interface/amp would you guys recommend? I use beyerdynamic dt 770 phones, and plug them directly into my mac headphone jack right now. Monitors are not an option due to noise restrictions, but I do have some krk rp5s that I use to reference and for final tweaking during mix downs(untreated room...

Re: Your favourite snare
Distance/tunnidge snare in BLAME...also razor rekta-development. I know distance uses live drums a lot, but how those chestplate guys get their snares so huge, crisp, and up front is beyond me.

Re: how do I recreate this 808 bassline, best I've ever hear
guess I'll be looking into the saturn vst then. do you think it provides a reasonable advantage over the stock ableton compressor, overdrive, filter, and saturator? I understand its probably much easier to come out with a quality sound with saturn though, but it comes with a price.

Re: how do I recreate this 808 bassline, best I've ever hear
Ya I have looked at it a few times with spectrum in ableton. most of the notes hit at 54hz with the occasional dip down to 43 hz. all of the notes appear to be a sine as the waveform comes to a point. However using a high pass filter though I can still hear the top end of the bassline all the way up...

My question is how do you go from a sine wave to an 808 like this? I have spent at least 20 hours trying to get it close. When I look at the waveform it looks like it has been heavily compressed. I'm not sure how he gets it to stick out so much in his track. Even when I cut out all of my other frequ...

Austin, Tx Producers
anyone in this area want to get together to share some techniques/give feedback on tracks? I've been at it for about 2 years now and use ableton. The sound I'm after is the deeper darker side (think distance and youngsta).

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
ya it does sound similar to that, maybe a little higher pitched, and a slower release on the filter to give it that airy feel. Maybe some subtle white noise but I can't seem to get anything close. How did you get that sound? I can use that as something to start messing with. Maybe I'll try sampling ...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - 2011.
I heard this in the n type basslaced podcast. I want to know how to make that atmospheric type synth that is coming in and out. I don't even know the name of the original track, but have heard in several mixes before. However, I think that this synth that he added over the top of it just really sets...
