Soundcloud is using content detection...

Wow, I'm kind of blown away, not a huge deal because I figured out the workaround the same as youtube. I basically finished a preview of a free EP I'm releasing sometime in the future, it's a bunch of remixes of classic old tunes and the very start is about 30 seconds of the original track and when ...

Re: How To Get Signed

I got my first track signed this year purely off posting it to a Soundcloud group. I had posted up a couple tunes and was building my followers etc
for a little while, plus I had already made a bootleg track that was gaining some attention. A small but sort of established label from here in Canada ...

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

Anyone know why the channel meters read different values than the spectrum analyzer? Specifically, the meter says my sub is under my drums, but the spectrum is tellin' a different story.

if you think about it, the sub only has one fundamental, while something like the snare has tons of ...

Re: Skrillex reveals details on how he makes his basslines

Hey guys, I barely come on this forum, but after reading through most of this thread (lots of great ideas) I thought I would make and share this little video. It's more of a suggestion then anything, at how simple a formant type of bass sound can be, hopefully it gives you some ideas.

Re: Comparing your music to "popular tunes"

Popular tunes are a good reference. You need to spend a long long time and stay dedicated to achieve a sound you want. Once you figure out how to do it the rest comes easy. Not every song you make will work how you want unless you use the exact same drums or synths.

In reference to the time spent ...

Re: Adam A7X's or Focal CMS50's - help plz :(

I just bought some A7x's last weekend, they've helped IMMENSELY.
I was using some Mackie MR5's before for a long time, with ALOT of reference listening to clear up the problems
they gave me, which was mostly hit or miss through the midrange and... well the whole range really!

My choice was also ...

Re: Sub Bass Question...

I actually read on Gearslutz at one point that you shouldn't compress bass. Reason for this is something to do with how it reacts with subwoofers, (can't remember exactly at the moment) but by compressing it I think it removes the amount of push it will have on a speaker. I find what works best for ...

Re: need help making my bass have more movement (no wubs)

Even automating an EQ can add movement, try creating a real tight peak that boosts (or cuts) about 3db and automate it to sweep up and down from 1k to 10k, at least work in those areas to see what it does, works best if you have alot of frequencies in those areas (distorted sounds). If you're using ...

Re: Production milestones

After spending what seems like an eternity getting a track to the level I wanted, shelving it for a while, then taking it out and blasting it in my car and not believing I even made it.
