Re: Problems converting wav to mp3
Can't imagine a .WAV to 320kbps mp3 conversion doing THAT much damage to a track, are you sure you've not changed anything else? If the mix is THAT far off is it a possibility that you've exported in mono instead of stereo? That would explain the things that are traditionally quieter and at the side...

Re: how to transfer patches/settings to new comp in logic?
Yeah migration assistant would have been your best bet, I lost a few bits and pieces (a couple of random sampler instruments and a few Apple loops, no idea why), but most of my stuff was intact, you shouldn't really be having a problem with channel strip settings in saved projects because Logic usua...

Re: How To Make This Sound - August/September 2012
So, not entirely sure if Koan Sound counts in as dubstep. The feel a bit more electro-oriented. But since they have a puch of wobbly synths in them I'll post here. Talk box. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGK3MkYFbIE At probably every end of the bars after the drop, there is a wobbly synth that fee...

Re: Slowing down the increase movement (Massive)
put an lfo or performer on it, and set the ratio really high. This way it will be exact. just make sure the shape your using is a sawtooth, if you want it to be linear. This, assign a performer to the pitch/cutoff/amp/whatever you want to modulate, sync it, set the bottom number to 1 and the top to...

Re: The Production Achievements thread
Had a remix I did with a mate named Zane Lowe's hottest record in the world which was pretty mindblowing, got another of my own remixes onto a #1 EP too (Cher Lloyd if you must know!). Also been featured on Deadmau5's homepage and played at a Mau5trap night at Ministry! YouTube is just shy of 7 and...

Re: anyone here Copyright law savvy? $150,000 fine threat
Good artists copy, great artists steal. My mindset when it comes to sampling/remixing things is just do it if it sounds good. Upload it, as long as you don't do anything blatantly illegal like attempting to sell it without permission, you should be fine. No-one's gonna bother suing someone over some...

Re: The future of piracy
Also, I had cracked versions of Cubase and Reason, which is what I started making music on. Once I got better at it and got a publishing deal advance I purchased over a grands worth of software, money I wouldn't have spent if I hadn't cracked that software in the first place. My main rule of thumb i...

Re: The future of piracy
I have to use a pirated version now (go TeAm AiR) cause I lost my disk. I might be able to call them cause I think I still have the box, and obviously I have an account, but I lost the card with the serial so fack I lost my Logic Pro box with the serial a while back, my MacBook Pro broke recently s...

Re: beautiful pad sound
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wk895m5VbK0 ok so this pad sound comes in around 43 seconds. Its so awesome and triumphant. I hear it alot in these sorts of tunes and I was wondering if anyone knew what synth it came from. I'm gunna assume its a preset since I hear it in so many different producers ...

Re: Help Me Make That Sound - September 2011
Please help! Help me make the sound like the synth that the artist Gemini uses in most of his songs, you know, like a pulsing synth? I've asked this before, everyone says "sidechaining" like it's obvious...I'm pretty sure I have a basic idea of what sidechaining is, but I don't understand...

Re: The 'help me make this sound!' thread
Very odd choice here but does anyone know what sort of thing would make the "lead" sort of sound in this, a mate asked and I'm actually stumped. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12uAh0lme38 I thought a mixture of ring modulation and distortion? Possibly a guitar played through both but it mu...

Re: DMZ 6th Birthday?
Progression doesn't necessarily mean technically, just because some of the "brostep" (hate that term) tracks aren't as "deep" as the dubstep that seems to be popular amongst most people on here doesn't mean it's any less respectable. A lot of people who are heavily into rock or ...

Re: DMZ 6th Birthday?
I just can't get my head around WHY they played the songs they did, especially at DMZ, and then get all aggy on twitter about how people need to move on from 2005, when people expressed their disappointment. There are SOOOO many songs from 2010-2011 that they could have played without going down th...

Re: New dark dubstep artist
Widowmaker, you're such an irritating person. You're all over this forum and still don't have even one post that actually contributes to something. And when someone tells you he dislikes your track, don't be annoying and just accept it. this was ages ago, and i know the sam guy he likes to be a pri...

Re: Mixes of Popular songs
Filters, EQ and clever cutting is the best way. Chances of getting an acapella for a popular track are very unlikely unless they publicly release them, in which case the internet would probably already be awash with remixes of the same song, and if you're starting out it's not gonna help if people a...

Re: Skrillex, aka Vocals Processing and Chopping
To me it sounds like he's sampled the last chorus vocals, put distortion on and possibly a bit of chorus, then ran the track through Melodyne or something similar with a low retune speed to get that quick switch noise between the notes. He may have messed with the formant or throat length settings t...
