Re: More I learn about production... less inspired I am?

Try to separate the left and right hemispheres of your brain. What is probably happening is your analytical side is starting to dominate a little too much now that your technical knowledge has advanced. I have a huge problem with this myself. Try to keep them separate and don't let your analytical ...

Re: Just a bass trap question

Fill the corners in as best as you can, the more space between the trap and the wall the better. Essentially you want your bass trap to be thicker than 4inches and at least 4 inches off of the wall for it to be effective. If you only have one bass trap I would probably concentrate most on the back ...

Re: Low sub eq help

A decent system in your trunk and you ought to be able to rumble around town all day listening to nothing but 25hz sine waves ... ?

You are not getting the idea. I mean in a studio setting. Running test oscillators.
You can have your car shake apart and rattle all you want. All you will be ...

Good read. I like how in the list digital is on the left and analogue is on the right. made me chuckle a bit.

Re: Low sub eq help

I have often wondered what 25Hz would sound/feel like.

I think they go that low in many quality cinemas for effects. I've seen some rotary woofers that go much lower for cinema use, down to 1Hz even which is just plain ridicoulous. Need to go check one out some day.

The cinemas around ...

Re: Headphones......?

I got some Sennheiser HD600s from RazorDogDeals on ebay for $300 USD last year. I really like them for production. Sometimes I forget I'm wearing headphones. Open back and extremely comfortable. They just aren't the most stylish. Check it out, they are probably still selling them up there. I don't ...

Re: Production Investment

What about your DAW? You didn't mention anything so I guess you must be happy with it. Those East West instruments are dope across the board pretty much. They are top notch as far as orchestral stuff goes. I have a buddy that uses them for video game and film scoring and they sound unreal... or so ...

Re: Low sub eq help

I would only really cut below 30 HZ on the sub. You would be pressed to find a system that can reproduce signals lower than that. As for cutting out more than 35Hz seems a little overkill and 40Hz is way too much imo. Even cutting under 30 is just good practice...

You can do it from a flash drive, but if you have the option to use an external CD drive I would go that route.

Re: Easy Mastering

So would you say that a little multiband compression on the lower ranges might have the same effect?

wait wait. Just to be sure, You did download the wav files to do your A B and not just out of soundcloud right??

it might be a dumb question but I only ask because my soundcloud page is not showing ...

Re: Low sub eq help

If you are using a pure sine wave the notes should be all at the same dB. It is possible that your speakers don't go down that low, unless you have very good/large speakers. It is also possible that you are sitting too close to your monitors. The wavelength of the lowest frequencies are much larger ...

Re: Easy Mastering

I tried this out and I found that just elephant cranked up on my master channel sounded better. Might just be my mixing maybe..
I found that this seemed to squash the midrange bass a lot.
