Just use distortion more subtly, sometimes its better to use a few distortions with less mix then one cranked up on full.

i dont know about patented but i do know emu is the go to for zplane, and if you listen to a lot of neurofunk youll hear resses being mangled by zplanes. billain for example :D Billain uses his own Z-Plane filter he made in FL, so if you research it you could possibly try and make something similar...

I use Albino 3 for all my rise and transition effects, I think with the noise oscillators and its mod matrix being so easy to use you can make sounds like this really quickly.
