Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

Yeah you can set up whatever you want
and save it as a new template
just look at how the existing ones are set up (folders etc; I can't remember off the top of my head and I'm on a bus right now so can't check) and follow that lead

my default one is pretty heavily customized like this

Hey dudes I did a breakbeat remix of the Habanera tune, that famous piano melody. Very minor keyish.

Re: so... what are people's goals here?

At this point I just want to get my little self release album done.

Then I want to buy a decent laptop and play gigs again (i used to ... ages ago lol)

Then i'll think about sending out demos.

The main goal however is to just keep going. I pushed myself too hard years ago and lost the love and ...

Re: Anyone actively making hiphop still?

Yeah I still make it. I'm doing the synthy stuff at the moment but was making sample cut up hip hop, glitch hop and breaks until recently (i'm just doing heavy synth stuff in general at the moment- i've exhausted all my samples Haha). It's not very well mixed down though especially to what i'm doing ...

Testing the waters with a hiphop track

Hey guys. Haven't posted any of my shit here before. Mainly looking for feedback in regard to the mixdown and general sound handling.

Feel free to hit me back with links to your tracks... I'd love to hear em! Only problem is this phone is my only net access which means no flash (or java I believe ...

Re: y-Axis shifted Waveforms

Kinda skimmed thread but to remove a dc offset (if your daw doesn't have an option to do this itself) try taking out any traces of very low sub or high passing the sample and bouncing (though it looks like you may have done this and it didn't fix it? I swear that should fix it as the most common ...

Re: how to know when you are going overboard in composition?

I have this same problem from time to time.

Plenty of layers doesn't have to be a bad thing, just so long as they're not all fighting for attention. Like others said, space is important. If you've got 6 different channels on an 8 bar loop when every channels fills up every bar, you're gonna have ...

Re: How to not piss off my neighbours? (isolating bass)

Yeah i've given up on making a racket. In the old graff house I used to live in it was wonderful. No one who lived there gave a fuck because I was just drowning out someone else's eminem cd anyway and the neighbours were frightened of us and never said shit.

Now i'm in a small old apartment with ...

Re: "F%*ing Modes SUCK!!!!" : A Guide To Modes & How To Use

Fucking proper thread. Dude deserves all the thanks he's getting. Just wish I wasn't stuck behind a counter at work while reading this. I want to put into practice!

Other than that it's perfect timing for me; I've avoided learning any proper theory until now for favour of using solely my ear and ...

Re: Tweaking mixes for headphones.....

I listen to music in headphones so I tend to produce in headphones (also because my girlfriend sits next to me on the couch watching girl stuff on tv while i'm doing beats on the laptop).

Usually pretty early in a tune I put it though my stereo and check it out but... My stereo is horrible. Presets ...

Re: Preparing your tracks for professional mastering...

If you are removing a limiter for finalizing purposes you generally WILL have clipping (because the signal is no longer limited to stop at or before 0dB) which in turn will result in you having to pull down the master. I see no flaw in this thought process

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

Oh Yeah the other thing I do is manually reset it at the END of the automation. Like at the very beginning of the next bar following the automation. Say you're cutting out the bass before a drop slowly so you have a 8 or whatever bar fall in the bass eq... At the very start of the fifth bar I right ...

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

Not sure if i'm reading correctly but it looks like you're frustrated that the value won't reset to a certain point after some automation? There are probably other ways to do it but I personally use reset patterns. Just make one pattern and set the value you want the knob to reset to in the pattern ...

Re: Burial Rhythm in FL Studio?

I grew up producing idm so have had a little experience making this paper-being-screwed-up percussion. Don't underestimate the versatility of the granuliser and the crappy legacy sampler reverbs. I typically just get baked and load various tom and kick samples into this and twist knobs randomly (the ...

Re: The FL Studio Q&A Thread

Anyone have any maximus tips? I'm reasonably new to it and pretty much know what i'm doing but some really basic things still bother me.
Do people use it on every tune? Or is it more a use-when-required-not-as-a-crutch type thing.

And Yeah any other random tips appreciated because I almost ...
