I would say a good 50% of people don't really have any taste in music and have never made an effort to expand on their musical tastes beyond what is fed to them by Radio 1.
Which is sad
But I suppose they just aren't into it. I find this kind of weird since if I am sitting listening to a good tune ...

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance
I don't think the OP was wondering what the first ever electronic "hit" was, just what started a trend directly leading the tunes we can hear all the time on the radio.
Well, to me it's like asking what started the trend of hip hop tunes being in pop music right now, you cant point at any tune in ...

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance
tbh i could easily listen back to some of those 90s/ turn of the century dance chart hits. yeah some of them are pretty cheesy but i suppose they've got that nostalgia charm and aren't overproduced. some of them sound pretty melancholic as well
not really going to get that with shit like avicii ...

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance
yeah i remember a lot of music in the charts here around the turn of the century was like funky house and commercial trance stuff. that chicane and bryan adams tune "don't give up" made it to number 1 in 2000
yeah chicane, forgot all about them, that tune was big, there was so many too ...

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance
Tbh i think daft punk and girl talk are mostly to blame
Daft Punk definitely brought that electro tinge to the mainstream. But they didn't really do much that wasnt been going on in the charts for half a decade before them. 2 unlimited, maxx, capella, glow worm, haddaway, n-trance, urban cookie ...

Re: How did "Pop" basically become Electro House/Trance
I dunno, I seem to remember a large portion of radio music in 2001 being ibiza club trance. I remember getting called a 'hippie' and a 'grunger' at high school for not exclusively listening to commercial dance muisc like most people. We are probably just from different parts of town so to speak ...

Re: audio drums over midi?
In use audio cause I like to see where the transients, oscillations etc are to layer things tightly in phase. I make tunes with some other people and they prefer to keep things 'lose', each to their own I guess.

Re: NI Massive Sound Issue, Help Needed Please
Polyphonic plays multiple voices - which are pretty much going to phase in and out and give you a more dynamic changing sound.
Monophonic is going to play one or two voices consistently and give you a more consistent sound.

Re: clipping pro tips.
so compression or limiting then :4:
no no, clipping. Say you have drums peaking at -4 in their channel, and then -4 on the master, but you want to clip 2db off them, you would put a clipping vst on the drum channel, set the threshold to -6db and it would just clip off the top 2db from that sound ...

i may just be zoned off today but is there ways of keeping your master from clipping apart from using a limiter or compressor if your using this in practise?
if you mean 'how do I clip a channel without clipping the master too?', you can get clipping plugins. GClip is free, there are other free ...

Re: Massive's 'new sound' and default preset act differently
when you use restart via gate, which you have to if you want a consistent sound every time you press a key, you can manually alter the start position for each of the oscillators in the box below it, so you can tweak them to sound like any of the variations you get when theyre left to random, it ...

Compressors reduces peaks that go over the threshold, as much as the ratio tells it to. /thread?

Re: Does sidechain compression actually compress???
A compressor Reduces the volume of the frequencys above the threshold by the ratio amount.
If you reduce the volume of the louder sound then the overall volume will be reduced, that why most compressors have make up gain.
a standard compressor doesnt effect one frequency and not another, it ...
