Re: How much $ are the "big" guys making
Watched an interview with Deadmau5, the man charges $100,000 per show, but he brings the show with him (the big square light stage, crew). When he was at the Guvernment here in Toronto at the end of december, tickets were $120+ but from what I hear he always has a wikid show.

Re: Let's talk progression...
In response to the OP ... Ive been making electronic music as a hobby for over 10 years ... the internet has been my learning ground ... I also have 20+ books on various music topics. I started with trance, then progressive and now dubstep. In the 10 years, the dubstepforum and dogsonacid have been ...

Re: Ambitions
This thread is wikid. Ive been in a rut lately and dunno how to get out of it. Cant make any music that I like. Been thinkin of quiting the green stuff and working hard on learning to play the piano and drums and become more disciplined. All I wanna do is do what famous dubstep dj/producers do. Trav...

Re: MIDI Vs Audio
I think with new faster computers there is less of a need to bounce down everything to wave and then process. Most of the time when I watch masterclass videos or in the studio vids, the producers almost always have their tracks bounced down to wave files. If you notice jitter with your midi then bou...

Re: Keeping things interesting?
I find that changing the bass sound goes a long way (ie. change a few parameters on the synth or resample differently the 2nd drop). Making small rhythmic changes such as a different swing, different note pattern or different LFO speed/pattern. Also, layering another bass sound after the 2nd drop to...

Re: Tips on layering bass for brostep?
Compress bass if it sounds good. Sub bass needs to be side-chain compressed if it falls on the kicks (imo it sounds cleaner cause the kick+bass can muddy up the track). From listenin to tons of 'brostep' it sounds like theres not just bass but some melody in there too so maybe they make the melody l...

I found this book awesome as well. It was important to play out the chords mentioned in the lessons after each chapter. Helped me a lot with understanding music theory.

Re: Resampleing Bass sounds.
I also find that when you resample a bass sound as opposed to sequencing it via midi, the sound is tighter. Way back in the day BT started to hate on midi because from his experience midi notes would be triggered a couple of miliseconds faster or slower which messes with the feel of the track. Ive d...

Re: Pads - tips and how-to.
Very cool post btw. While looking for the complete DX7 book I found this site https://sites.google.com/site/myyamahadx7/guides . Massey.7z is the book if anyone wants it. Looks pretty cool from the table of content. Any book that has hands-on exercises is awesome!
