Re: Advice on production?

I usually spend a lot of time on the nuances on a section before I move on. In other words I'll spend a lot of time on the main melody / A section of a tune, I'll get it where I like it, have a couple developments within that theme, and so on. Then I'll put it away for a few days and come back and w...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@nnny I really like the atmosphere of this, I think a little bit of variation in the volume or velocity of the hats would give it something that it's lacking. @sniperDubb I like the vocal samples and the intro, the rising midrange bass synth isn't really my style, so the song looses me as that part...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@Noisestorm I really dig this tune. I feel like some of the kick patterns get a little too busy and cluttered towards the ends of the progressions. I think the layering of one shot synth hits and stabs is really good. I think the break down, build ups are effective and I really love the hard sync s...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

http://soundcloud.com/subsynth/new-dubstep-idea-take-3/s-0a6t7 Further development. I appreciate all the feedback so far. This is still very rough, no real transitions worked out (just layering clips) But I have a bit more development, less repetition, and so on. I would say this is pretty much sti...

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *

@subsynth it starts out of nowhere too much... build the intro up more. it's too repetitive as well, at the very least filter it a bit until the main bit comes in. the sub is sounding nice, could be louder though. really like the bad. the 303ish things could work, but they feel a bit out of place. ...

Re: Always back up, kids

I have a Project folder outside of the library that I backup to an external every few days. Especially before I go on the road for some gigs. I always "collect all and save" so that my samples I'm actively using are included. If I lost my computer I'd at least have my sets ready to play on...

Re: the classic "take a photo of your setup" thread

Like I said in the post I produce in headphones and when I want to monitor it on a system I have a PA. I've been a live performer for over a decade, but only gotten real serious about Production this year. So I guess My Monitors Are Yamaha 15s Pushed by 500W per side. Here is the behind view. https:...

Re: Focusrite Saffire

I've had a Scarlett since the first week of June. I love it. I was about to get the saffire 6 when I saw the scarlett was coming out, glad I waited. Edit: I guess I should let you know how I use it..... I have a 2.4ghz core2duo laptop with 4 gigs of RAM. 7200RPM HD I run ableton suite with 4-5 audio...

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

Hello, I am using Ableton with a MIDI controller, and I was wondering if it is possible to have ableton toggle/show the effect being modulated by my MIDI controller. The work around I came up with is to midi map the selection of the return group to a button, that way when you click the midi button ...

You can buy it by clicking the link above.

Lifetime Free Upgrades convinced me to purchase this about 4 years ago, I had used it off and on for about 5 years prior.

I plan to upgrade to the producer edition this weekend.
