I am now here and going to stay here a few weeks, months even.
If anyone would like to meet up talk music, go out for a few nights, hit a few beers, collaborate, get free Ableton Live lessons or something hit me up.
As for speaker placement, have your setup close to one of the 5m walls, but not directly at the wall. Have the speakers at 60°, tweeters at ear level.
And most importantly treat the areas of first reflections, which are the spots where the sound from the speakers first hits the walls.
ha thanks for the kind words, never heard the the love&mercy tune before, cool track, nice percs. the vocal sample is off one of the acapella anonymus collections, i'm sure it's been used over and over.
And about pitching an 808 sample down sure I can do that. But have you guys tried it in a real project and it sounded good?
When using an 808 as a sub bass line, it's not a bad idea making it in a synth from scratch: just use a sine wave with a +2 octave pitch bend on the transient part (first ...
+1 for Satson on some channels and buses. fucking great, nice subtle filters and the 'fat' switch is cool for basses n kicks.
used in moderation Kramer Master Tape is great for some proper glue action across the entire mix.
Love how this software thread turned into a 'mixing sub bass on headphones vs monitors' thread.
Again, if you have an untreated or in any way acoustically shitty room, good set of cans can be much more accurate in the lower end. Yes, you can hear bass ...
Tune I finished today, after realising I had way too many 8bar loops I was never going to go back to, so I had to sit down and create something whole. Comments & criticism appreciated, any feedback can help! :) It's a free download too, if you happen to like it.
For bass music I feel a sub is essential. I was just writing about this in another thread, it's really hard to make good clean subs on headphones. It sound ridiculous to me to even listen to bass music with out
I disagree. While I would love to have a sub to monitor with, in a less then ideal ...
beer, cigarettes, dsf and finishing working on track ideas within half an hour and ditching them forever (and then starting on a compeltely unrelated & equally unusable idea).
that and 8 bar loops.
And I thought sin waves don't have much in the way of harmonics, and thus, if two sin waves were played in sync, two octaves apart, there would be no phase cancellation, right? Right!
I tried using seven cutoff/low pass filters on a deep/low end sin wave, qnd check what happened under a ...
forget the guitar tuner, you're not going to be able to detect the key of a song with that. mixed in key is decent, but is not always correct and costs money. just play along the tune with a piano or any intstrument really and find the note that fits most, it'll be the tonic. then play scales over ...
A track a week or two weeks or so, but unbearable amount of loop ideas still.
I need to push myself to create a finished track, and I usually end up finishing them too early, because otherwise I'd start hating them by the time they're half finished.
