Re: House
At work but I'll listen to the tunes in this thread once I'm in the car. I make mostly tech-house.. dubstep, dnb, and psytrance are side projects. I'd be happy to collab with someone on a house/fast techno/electro/speed garage tune! I'm a decently accomplished producer, you can hear some tunes here ...

Re: Something I experience with compressors
If I read you right, you are basically hearing artifacts from clipping. With no attack and a very deep threshold your compressor will dramatically lower the volume of a sound immediately. This leaves a step change in the amplitude, aka a square wave. Thus the audible pop. Adjust the attack so you do...

Re: How do I make my sub more audible for those without woof
Tavra, I've used waveshapers on sines too now that I think of it and there is no perceived loss of power. But you could always remedy that by putting the shaper on a highpassed send channel. Also try saturation or distortion. Someone mentioned a 4 kHz boost and distortion. But I suspect that all of ...

Re: Making basslines that fit together
Do you have an example? If you're chopping up a lot of synths and making a glitchy (or dare I mention "Skrillex") bassline, fit comes from good music (your midi notes), and proper production (retriggering or syncing LFOs and oscillators, matching levels, etc). The other solution is, take e...

Re: How do I make my sub more audible for those without woof
I agree about triangle waves. They just have a lameness to them! I like finding the right square wave, but sometimes it will sound too metallic so I'll opt for saw. But I agree that subtlety is the key. The thing I hate about the layering approach is phase cancellation. I don't usually make dubstep ...

Next sample pack challenge? Saying hello here...
Hi all, I want to say hi in here because I'm really just a DSF production forum lurker. I'm Travis and I am from Texas (the YEEHAW! state) and I make techno and psytrance and breakbeat things sometimes, sounds like this http://soundcloud.com/plasticpope/qukq I'd love to make a few dub tunes and I th...

Re: Decent Studio Monitors
I just bought some KRK Rokit 6's, so here is my humble opinion. Maybe they are the best sounding monitor for $200 a piece, and maybe not. I listened and compared between a few different models and to me these monitors pointed out the most flaws with my mixes and sound design (I brought some of my tr...
