Re: Adding presence to a bassline without distortion
First of all, you have to be careful with ohmicide. Those distortion knobs go up to +60dB... Thats an insane amount and will make everything sound like shit. Try pulling back the knobs a little to make it lighter.
Second you can always try layering with another wave form that has more harmonic ...

Re: Tuning kicks when layering
If your using Ableton use the Frequency Shifter instead of repitching.
It will maintain the character of the kick better
But I don't repitch my kicks ever. I just find/make kicks that already hit at the frequency I want.

Re: Playing the kick and bass a tad away from eachother
yeah, this sounds like korn's stupid way of explain side-chaining your kick and bass so the bass ducks for a few ms... leaving plenty of headroom for the kick to really snap.
or, as i do.
set the ENV on your sub bass to take a few ms to kick in, that way it's at 0 db when the kick hits, but very ...

Re: Akyu - Optimal Dose (Drumstep+Moombahcore??)
Yea now I guess I see what you guys mean with it being house. I just figured it wasn't because of the slower tempo and it has the kick-snare-kick-snare as opposed to 4-on-the-floor

Akyu - Optimal Dose (Drumstep+Moombahcore??)
Heres a new track I've just released.
I'm not sure what this genre is, but its kinda like Skrillex Reptile.
I focused on having a big vocal bass and hard hitting drums.

Akyu - Optimal Dose
I've been working on a "Moohmbacore" type sound.
It's basically the same genre as whatever "Skrillex - Reptile Theme" is.
I experimented with a lot of synthesis techniques I've never used before. And I'd like to know what you guys think.
