Re: Dear Ableton users, how do you make your drums?
Ah, so do you chop them up and rearrange in arrangement view? I might need to try that. But I've always been an advocate of making rough work with an MPC.Sine69 wrote:I just use a simpler for each drum, then group then all together.
I like being able to put different effects on each different drum

Dear Ableton users, how do you make your drums?
Drum rack.
Impulse.
Sampler.
Separate drum racks and Impulses for each piece.
Just experimenting with different ways, and haven't found a way I feel most comfortable with. I tend to use Drum Racks so I can add different FX to different piece

Intonation
I was just reading up on Intonation: Just, Equal, and Pythagorean. I don't really understand, does this only apply to real world instruments? How does it effect computer musicians, and why does Cubase have tuning options.

How to go from producer to live event?
Do you have to become popular before you start selling events and holding your own? I don't really understand the process. Can you only tour with a manager and label?

In the mood for some wobbles
I'm in the mood for some heavy modulated, but clean dubstep tracks; like Excision, Liquid Stranger and Rusko, but stuff I haven't heard already. Just loud, clean basslines.

Re: How to improve drum production?
Does that really improve rhythm? Good God, I should have bought a pad sooner. It's next on my agenda. I tried using my midi keyboard, but it was such an awful experience.sixth sense wrote:turn off quantize and tap in the drums

How to improve drum production?
Alright, drums is currently my favourite part of music production, and I love playing them. I used to have a full drum kit until I moved, but now I try to recreate drum patterns in my head, I just fail. I listen to so much DnB, Jungle and Breakbeat, and try to recreate some of those drums but I just ...

Drum midi equivalent?
What is the drum version of a midi keyboard called? It functions as a midi in the sense that you can program in beats from an external device, but it's just for drums, because I like to virtually tap out my drum beats. Clicking is hard for breakbeat :<

This is fantastic. I was so dazed while watching it. Were those sounds live drums?
I have a few more questions (I will do my research, but it's a bit late now and I'm going to hit the hay, haha), were these done on a 4/4 pattern? As in, on Ableton there ...

Re: genre / drums
hey guys, I've been trying to see if there is a specific genre that mainly focuses on drums beats, and puts more focus to the drums rather than the bass. If that makes sense. A bit like Mt Eden's work. I think they run on 140 BPM, not sure. Is that still dubstep? I'd only use synths for a slight ...
