And also, this may seem like a stupid and/or obvious question, but... would granular synthesis just be the same as say, taking a sample and slicing it into small bits and cut them a little to add some spacing? What's the benefit of the granular modulation as opposed to using this method?

OK so I can get ASIO to work fine in Ableton. And when it opens, it says v2.1. However, my z3ta only pulls up ASIO v2.0, and none of the "+" pull outs are available beside my output sources, so I can't route it the right way = no sound. How do I fix this? I don't see any options or anything.

Maybe I worded that wrong. I want to virtually mix my tracks from Ableton. And this would require a mixer, yes? Send tracks to corresponding channels? I thought this would be the same concept.
