Re: Pitching vocal samples HELP!
can melodyne be used as a plugin???? im looking at it online and it looks like a daw type thing and which version is the best if you just want to use it for pitching vocals? To use the Melodyne plugin, drag it onto your track and the program should pop up and ask you to enter Stand Alone, Rewire or...

Re: Making melodies and then realizing they already exist
The good thing about writing lyrics is that you can Google them and see if they have been used before! It's soul destroying when they have been, though. Still stuck when it turns out you've copied someone's melody too!

Re: Learning Guitar
Just make sure you stick with the pain til you get callouses on your fingertips, makes it easier from then on! The way I learnt was to get a song that I knew inside out and just play the rhythm with muted strings 'til I had it down. After getting the rhythm I would add in a chord and play the whole ...

Re: Vocalist Looking To Collab
Thanks all :) I wished those tracks would use the vocal more prominently. Sounds like they're hiding the talent but then again everyone uses vocals differently. I think that is what I like about vocals, you never know what you are going to get back after you send them off! I like it when a producer ...

Re: Vocalist Looking To Collab
Hi guys, I thought I would give a little update as I have now completed a couple of dubstep projects and have some others lined up. Thanks to everyone who got in touch! I have found the dubstep crowd to be nicer that the trance crowd in terms of openmindedness. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuWlwtb...

Re: Midi clip problem in ableton
Have you chosen to fold the notes? It only selects the ones you've used and doesn't allow you to go further up the scale. When you double click on the sample, it will open at the bottom and beside the piano, you'll see the "Fold" button, click that and your full piano should open up.

Re: Musicianship and lifestyle
Going through this at the minute 100%. My system used to be that my other half would work from 1-9pm which gave me loads of time to get things done in the studio, but now it's just 5pm-9pm. Because I'm recording vocals, I can't do it with anyone in the house and knowing I only have that 4 hour windo...

Re: Mic issue Ableton live
Check that you have adjusted the buffer size correctly, there is a help file built in to Ableton for this. Also, download ASIO drivers as they help with latency when monitoring and as above, don't use monitoring unless you're wearing headphones or you'll get feedback. What way are you connecting the...

The Thrillseekers Remix Competition
If any of you guys are fans of trance, then you will probably have heard of The Thrillseekers. He was responsible for the mega hit "Synaesthesia" way back in the early days of trance, so he's a bit of a legend but is also still one of the big hitters today. Anyway, I just thought I'd let y...

You seem to have been producing at a fast rate and that can burn out your creativity. Take a week off and by the time you get back to it, hopefully you'll have loads of ideas you can't wait to get going on.

Re: Emeli Sandé - Breaking the Law (Remix)
I like this! It sounds very much like tech trance with that lead you've used, so the drop really needs to stand out as dubstep more. I think to really make it come alive, you need to fill out the build up and drop. At the minute, the techy bit gets a tiny bit repetitive as some other parts need to b...

Re: trying to get the vocals & synth in right key...
Melodyne is the king for this. Will tell you each note that is being sung and which key the whole sample is in. You can then change any notes that aren't fitting, or change your synth to the correct key. I couldn't live without it!

Re: break-ups
Just keep telling yourself that it's called a break up because it's broken. People don't normally end great relationships. Take this time to do all the things that you have missed out on while you were together. See your friends more, play COD til 4am, go traveling, anything that you weren't able to...
