Re: Pads! How does everyone go bout makin em?
All about the way you use the notes too. Don't write your chords all in one octave, spread the notes way out across the keyboard and have the pads fill in the lowmids, the mids, the highs, lows (except your sublows), and everywhere, theyre designed to be the glue between all the gaps in your music

Re: moombahton basic drum arrangement?
Its actually snares on the offbeat, where you'd normally put the hi hat in house/techno/trance etc. The only difference I heard (I didnt really listen to too much I just listened to a couple tunes and ive heard a lot of reggaeton/Major Lazer), is that the first snare is swung right before the second ...

Re: Artwork for album? Where do you go?
I am a photographer. I've only done one release, and it was my own photography, although the label did the text etc. I'd imagine i'd probably use more of my photography if I was confident my work was ready to be unleashed, but I keep outdoing myself hahaha

Re: Mixing down "psychedlic" music
Thats a really good point and something I didn't even realise because of the direction I was going with the music, but those minimal pieces are some of the best. Sometimes all I need is a bassline and a beat, and something floating around between it all. With the psychedelic aspect of the genre, its ...

Re: Mixing down "psychedlic" music
Thats all im going for in a "mixdown" here, just sounding dubby and solid and clear. I love this music because after 5 years of busting my ass to make perfect dancefloor beats in drum n bass with that perfect structure and set in stone mixdown style, its nice to be able to have the freedom to do ...

Re: Mixing down "psychedlic" music
Yeah filtering out excess frequencies help a lot! I don't normally do it with more minimal tunes but when you already have a million and one frequencies coming at you it makes it more manageable. Enveloping helps there too ;)

Mixing down "psychedlic" music
Hey so I've recently forayed into the world of psychedlic dub, in the vein of Bluetech, Shulman, Shpongle etc. Its incredibly fun to make but its not so easy to mixdown because theres so much in the way of reverb and weird FX and field recording tracks, and the fact that this tune im working on has ...

Bresson - 2stoned
Title says it all. I had some beautiful chords and pads and drums laid down for it. And I was like "I'm going to get stoned and make this AWESOME". And then I made this:

Re: Pathetic attempt at a coki style tune
I like it, although I think it needs some more midrange bass, this seems to have all the subs and high end but no mid growl. Its really minimal and dark though, I dig that

Re: free 111bpm tune
Tune is alright, I've always loved the sound of house down at 110 bpm, been playing house and trance down there for a while, just did a mix like that. Its just weird to hear that this Moombah is actually a thing, kind of like nudisco was to deep house. Excited to hear more from this!

TranceHC- Classic/Psy/Prog Trance @ 120 BPM
http://soundcloud.com/bresson/trancehc
I put together a mix of classic/progressive/psy trance tunes, all slowed WAYYYY down to 120bpm. So, trance on THC. Blaze up, press play, and go on a journey into space!
I did the mix a couple weeks ago, and I don't know trance as well as dubstep/dnb, oh yeah ...

Re: Improving Drum Beats?
One of the more irritating things I hear in dance music is people going all out trying to make everything super complex, especially in glitches and stutters and stops and starts every other fucking bar, but also in just trying to make the beat not repetitive by changing it up and adding crazy shit ...

Re: Older School Kind of Dubby Business
Hahah you talking about I'm Back, Jack? Did it as kind of a dubstep tribute to some of my favorite hiphop of all time- the dirty south. Unfortunately the two tunes I sampled are extremely sub par examples of the genre.

Re: Older School Kind of Dubby Business
Oh alright, I'll give it a shot. I'm really on a dubstep tip lately (im mostly a dnb producer), so I'll try it with a couple tunes I'm working on right now. Thanks

You dont need to mute it/pull the volume down if there is no output. No output = no sound
