Re: Korn feat. Skrillex Remix Contest

Well. What I started as a 10 minute joke, I might actually finish. I got tricked, somehow.

Re: How To Sound Like Skrillex & Make Skrillex Bass

I've been experimenting a long time and I'm still failboating. Thanks for all the advice though! My best result has been using Wikipedia's formant centers to make a sound. I modulate within the important regions according to Wiki (this example is a U vowel). I still can't hear any distinct talking. ...

Re: How To Sound Like Skrillex & Make Skrillex Bass

Can I get some more pointers about modulating an EQ to get the vowel sounds? Seems like many use the Sugarbytes WOW, but I'd like to use an EQ instead and using the Ableton vowel EQ presets. http://i52.tinypic.com/29avdiw.png FM grind > fattening FX and notch filter > EQ8 (for vowels) Every experime...

LOL. maybe he set it to private because practically nobody was appreciating the link? He's under no obligation to share it. Consider the amount of views and people demanding tutorials to the number of posts he got saying thanks. Just a theory. Regardless, thanks for taking the time to make it origin...

Re: My DAW is better than yours! (Friendly DAW Wars debate)

Let me just say that I love reading this thread. I started electronic production on Reason 3. I wanted to use live audio so I looked for a traditional sequence. I switched to Cubase because Black Sun Empire and Chase & Status used it. Yeah, I know. I'm still rocking Cubase on OSX, but I plan to ...

Dropbox is the key IMO. It allows you to dump/organize/backup/edit midi, stems, presets, etc. Also, the obvious email/phone call.

Re: The extremely embarrasing basic question thread

How do you notch a reese/growl/etc. effectively? I get that if you automate a notch to move drastically across the spectrum it makes this awesome phasey sound, but I'm really confused why people (DOA especially) recommend to notch reeses around 400-600 Hz. I can't really hear the phasing when it's a...

Re: The extremely embarrasing basic question thread

How aggressively do people generally low cut the sub frequencies on the sub-bass/kick/master? Seems like some people give a gentle low cut that ranges from -5db to 0db for 0-30 Hz and others give a cut that uses about -24db up until 40-50 Hz.

Re: Skrillex reveals details on how he makes his basslines

Could anyone give me a few pointers? I'm working on the main Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites smooth growl. I've tried many suggestions in this thread and related threads, but I'm still having trouble nailing the growls (supposedly) as Skrillex makes them. I've been trying to create everything exclus...

Re: Skrillex reveals details on how he makes his basslines

im planning on doing a video tutorial on this entire sound, but there hasnt been too much interested expressed as of yet so i havent bothered yet. Based on the traffic that Skrillex threads draw, I think many people would appreciate a video. One question: wouldn't drastically modulating the EQ (to ...
