I get why his mix is still clipping if individual channels are clipping but why would it be super loud if he bounced it down to -6? Sorry if I'm being thick.Dustwyrm wrote: it's loud as fuck when I put it on a cd and listen to it in my car, but it's perfectly quiet when listening to it in FL.

Adding distortion to whole drum bus
Hello everyone,
I want to add multiband distortion to my drum bus in FL studio but when I do so, I lose the EQ modifications I made on individual instruments. Say I get rid of a nasty low hum on my hihat, when I send it to the drum bus with ohmicide on it it comes right back and gets distorted as ...

Perceived loudness vs db count
Why does a sound sometimes appear much quieter than another sound peaking at the same db or even lower? Best example is, when setting up drum bus compression (something I still struggle with, but I'm so fed up with it I won't bother to start yet another thread), why does a heavily squashed signal ...

Re: Monowàn - Hotline Miami (retro electro ?)
Thank you for being honest. It's weird that it sounds so quiet, I mixed it down properly, did a self master and tried to bring it to max volume leaving a little headroom...maybe the background hiss and reverb drains too much energy ? Too much saturation on everything ?
I don't know, I liked that ...

Monowàn - Hotline Miami (retro electro ?)
Tribute to Hotline Miami and its amazing soudtrack...I had a lot of trouble getting the wet and dry elements to sit well together, I hope it's not too obvious.

It's a combination of Mono and Wanda from Shadow of the Colossus, I ditched the "da". Yes it's nerdy but I was "young".

Why would you want to have favourite settings, every track is different.
Because not everyone is a little bum fluff like you.

Re: adding "grain" and "warmth" to a mix
Reverb is a tricky beast, it can also make a mix sound huge and spacious, or it could make it muddier than the bayou. One thing that I've recently been implicating into my reverb use is to instead of separately adding different reverbs to different tracks is to just use a single send track and play ...

Re: adding "grain" and "warmth" to a mix
Just wanted to say thanks for all the replies, this thread definitely got me closer to the sound I'm looking for. What's amazing is that I actually find myself subtracting a lot of unecessary elements from my songs, I realized I was trying to hide instruments that didn't sound satisfying behind a ...

Re: Volume or EQ?
Try using Massive's tube on your sub to add some harmonics, don't overdo it though, sub basses are supposed to be felt more than heard. Or you could try another plugin, Voxengo LF Punch is great but not free.

I think he meant FL Limiter on the master. You should ditch that and keep your master channel empty until the final mixdown

Re: Why can't I export a song in the same quality as in the
Omg I "fixed" it. I'm gonna have a hard time explaining it without sounding stupid but it was all a matter of misperception between fl (does play at full volume by default when using fast-track), the output/mix knob on the soundcard and the windows volume settings. Basically, with all these factors ...

Re: Why can't I export a song in the same quality as in the
You mean mastered tunes ? No, but again I'm not trying to compete with professional tracks I just want it to sound as loud as in my daw. I think the problem might be related to FL bypassing the volume control of my computer and playing everything as loud as possible by default. The only way I can ...
