Re: Transition from designing sounds to Arranging them!
what I do (and to me, makes more sense) is to get your melody/arrangement/bassline/whatever down first. Get those notes and tones in there with a basic patch. You know what you want your growling bass to sound link... or maybe you don't. Look at the motion/groove as a template to layer your sound ...

Re: problem with quick consecutive kicks peaking
turn them down
I have to say when I saw this was the only reply I lol'd. But, are your kicks audio clips in the arrangement or samples in a sampler? If they are in a sampler you can set a group of samples (usually, i use logic's esx24) to cut each other off, so when i have like 808 kicks or ...

Re: Cymbals
cut out all low and mid freq from the cymbals so it's just a nice shimmering top. reverb shouldn't be too too thick... just try to imagine what kind of a space you want to put across in the mix. your cymbals in the song sound ok... if you brought them up in the mix a bit and had them fade out sooner ...

yeahhh that's sort of plan b... i do record lots of my own samples but this one i'm looking for more of a cliche older sample, i feel like it will really suite the song.Eat Bass wrote:record it yourself? pitch the sample, eq, compression, chorus, delay, what have you.

Looking for a "Break!" vocal sample.
Like the title says, i'm looking for a sample of somebody saying "Break!". I have googled and scoured my sample library but unable come up with anything good. If anybody can recommend a tune or anything that will help me get the sample that would be great! Thanks.

Re: Dubstep drop stumbling block
if you have an idea that you want to get out.. but can't necessarily get out right away, start simple, make your bass's go for half bar's to change every snare hit / kick as a really simple template of your final idea. I find having a bit of structure and then building up little pieces helps me get ...

slow it down, it will pull it away from that more "mainstream" electro sound and go towards that french sound. Listen to old disco songs man, i did for basically the same reason hah.

Re: Sampling copyright question
well that's the thing... the label brought it up, they are looking into it too, i just figured i'd do my due diligence. The label doesn't want to release an uncleared sampled so that's why I contacted electra already. if i can't get it cleared i'm going to have to change it... which isn't the end of ...

Sampling copyright question
Hey All,
I've got a sample in a new release i've made that has interest from a label, the problem is that I'm not sure if I can use the main vocal sample in the song. The song in question is the third track here: http://www.komuso.com/albums/albums.pl?album=662

Re: Connecting outboard compressor to Fast Track Pro & Logic
an insert is only useful if you want to process something before going out of the outputs.
IE, i patch a compressor into the insert of a mic pre, and it lets me tweak the input and output gain of the compressor to find the sweet spot, and then that signal goes back to the output of the pre, so ...

Re: Connecting outboard compressor to Fast Track Pro & Logic
thanks for the links dude, but thats basically what i've been trying. On logic's I/O plugin i can only assign the input to 1-2 and the output can be 3-4 or 1-2. Obviously when the output is 3-4 there is no sound, as my speakers are in 1-2. No matter what i'm trying i can't get the compressor to get ...

Connecting outboard compressor to Fast Track Pro & Logic Pro
Hey All,
I've got a Fast Track Pro, that I hookup krk's into the TRS 1 and 2 outs, and then usb into logic pro. I'm looking to get a few choice pieces of gear, and i've got an alesis 3630 compressor to test out how it all works, but unfortunately, I can't figure out how to work it.

Re: Hardware and a home setup
it's gonna be tough w/ the fast track pro as you only have 2 TRS outputs. but, you've got the insert ponts, so you can patch gear in-- or mult your outputs to do parallel processing. i'd stay away from using the RCA's, mainly because they're unbalanced.
