Re: Snare is making me lose my mind.

I agree with above poster. Could also be an issue with frequency masking. Try EQuing out parts of other tracks too see if you can fit in some more snare?

Re: Losing Interest In Your Tracks early

If you're losing interesting in your tracks early, why not try to do more new things while producing? Try out some new technique, try to produce with a tighter work flow, mimic some sound you've heard before, experiment with a synthesizer, something that just gets you going. While you still can have ...

Is it possible, shift-bank for knobs in Ableton?

So, I've got an 25 key midi-controller hooked up to Ableton, and connected to the controller I have a boss sustain-pedal. What I'd like to do is use the sustain-pedal as a bank switch (which I do in Traktor, which got native support for this kind of stuff) so that the knobs do different things ...

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread

If you want to do this on the same channel (rather than try to connect two controls on different channels) you could just hook the stuff up in an audio effects rack or an instrument rack and connect the appropriate controls to that macro knob in the rack

Haunted VIP would be such an immense release.
I jokingly invented a tune and now everyone's wanting it haha. For shame.

Realistic hope: answer me. That tune is a beast and not stupidly old and unheard of, and he still plays it out. Could be a massive release

Then again, I'd probably just want ...

Re: (Ableton) Theres a few ms delay on samples

Also try to see if you're running with any latency compensation. I don't know if ableton automatically compensates for plug in delay, but you should try to turn that on.

Is it the midi information itself that is delayed, or is when you drum in them with a controller?

Re: DSF: Applied Minimalism #1

I've sent in a tune, according to the rules constructed solely with the 808 sample. For the next round, though, why don't we limit the rules to just FX that still lets sample have some resemblance left? Like delay and reverb, maybe some light flanging and chorusing. Beyond that it's just composition ...

Windows 7 Midi Translator for the MPD16

Recently aquired a MPD16 (akai legacy product) for a very cheap price, so I'm all good at that front, but I just found out that there isn't any support for the drivers of it since it is legacy for windows 7. There is some work around to get it to work of USB, but its supposedly very very unstable ...

Re: How to Improve at Synthesis and Sound Design

Considering how complex patches can become pretty dependent on what notes you're laying I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you feel like you want to keep yourself to a certain scale or key you should do that, but feeling restrained by it defeats the whole free jam session in a way.

Re: How do I DMZ - Haunted Dub style basslines?

I think Coki generally work with some form of FM synthesis? Always got this sort of metallic sound to it, so might be an idea to work with an FM-tone with a fair bit of overtones but not enough to get it really sharp. Also, I think the filter modulation is acting a bit funny, like, it opens and ...

Re: Does sidechain compression actually compress???

The sidechain in a compressor is the part of the compressor that "listens" to the audio input, and decide how much to lower the volume on the main chain. the side chain isn't the audio-out but a copy of the input. What we mean with sidechaining is replacing the original sidechain of the audio input ...

Re: Keeping resampled basses clear & crisp?

The point of resampling really is just to solidify the current state the bass is in. For example, I've worked with synth patches and FX combinations that sound great on a few couple of notes, because the timbre is so dependent on the frequency. I'd then resample a few bars of one or two of the notes ...

Have anyone got their tunes yet? I pre-ordered it, got my preorder tunes but no other tunes in sight. Feels kind of bad, its just a fiver, but still, feels like something missing here?
