What artists arenyou really into atm?
It doen't have to be necessarily Dubstep. I'm currently into Phonat and Culprate a lot. They both have similar styles. Phonat sounds cinematic, and Phonat likes to play with your ears. A lot of frequency sweeping, band passes, weird effects and stuff used in a very creative way. Especially on the Id...

Re: Are these unnecessary sidechains?
Brothulu, I don't over think a much as I use to when I first joined DSF, I just like to experiment a lot. I want to master as I go along making a track. It doesn't doesn't have to be perfect, I would just like to have a routine of things to do to my tracks to bring out the sounds better. Sometimes I...

Re: Are these unnecessary sidechains?
Two extra questions I'd like to add:
Is it weird to sidechain the kick to the leads ceiling in a limiter?
Should hats be sidechained to punch through the kick? Does it make the hats more noticable or does it cause a bad stuttery effect on the kick?

Are these unnecessary sidechains?
Just curious and I want to hear if anyone else does these, or if there unnecessary. I'll sometimes layer kicks, I'll have one for sub, one for mid-high frequency 'clicking sort of sound.' Sometimes I'll multiband distort by adding distortion to the high passed kick. Heres where sh*t gets weird. Thin...

Re: WIP Thread - GIVE FEEDBACK TO OTHERS BEFORE POSTING!!!
@LilWUB Has a really nice Hardstyle feel to it! I like it the way it is. @Vagic add some stereo to that kick. It sounds too centered or too loud or something. @Dotcurrency could use some whistles or samples in between maybe. Or if you added reggae chords to it where the open hats are then it could f...

Give me some Dinosaur sounds.
Title explains it. Give me some dinosaur growls, or even dinosaur samples from like Jurassic Park or even just something you made.

An average progressive house template?
A lot of progressive House tracks or even just Electro-Pop tracks use a basic template that I hear a lot. I hear usually vocals processed and with a lot of reverb or auto-tune maybe. A side-chained saw chord progression. 4x4 House pattern but the kick is usually very loud with a heavy amount of bass...

Re: The Official Growl Bass Thread
How'd you do that?
Patch or explanation please, so I can understand what gives it such wet whompyness with no plugins used.
I'm being serious. That sounds nice, even if it is a Skrillex growl.

How do you know how much compression to use?
Well? I almost hear no difference at all. And I'm very confused with the threshold amount. I'm using the FL Studio stock compression. I did read up on how compression works. The threshold is an imaginary line you set for the frequencies to never go above the line. (The threshold.) The ratio is sayin...

Re: What is a trap pattern?
I'm just trying to experiment with the variety of Electronic music.
Isn't the majority of Dubstep based on the half-time pattern?
Isn't the majority of House based on the 4x4 pattern?
You don't have to be a Scott about it. (He's a dick.)

Re: What is a trap pattern?
I always like doing 120 BPM Dubstep. Mostly because most Chiptune is 120 BPM. So I guess I kind of incorporated it from that, sorry lol.. chipmusic can only be made in a certain bpm range? what the fuck are you on. I said MOST.. Not ONLY. It's also usually in the VERY HIGH BPM ranges like 150's, 17...

What is a trap pattern?
Well? With Dubstep it's usually 70, 120, 137, 140 BPM-ish. With Kick on 1st, snare on 3rd. House around 128 BPM. Kick on every bar, snare on 2nd and 4th bar. Moombahton around 108 BPM. Kick on every bar, snare on the half of the 2nd and 4th bar. Hip Hop varries around 87-97 BPM I think. Kinda compli...
